I personally think you are being incredibly kind to large segments of football fans. This season alone suggests a lot of folk can't act like adults at all.

I get what you mean but the only times I've been to matches where you can have a pint were highly charged England v Scotland games at the new Wombley at HT.

Naebody I witnessed went Tonto and folk who are similar fan types including plenty Arabs had fine time.

We would need better security for sure as you will get some needing put out rapidy and swiftly on occassions like more of a pub/club control though without making a cunt of it and winding uo the support with bad stewarding.

Alot of our support drink for plenty hours on a matchday without getting in trouble.

Making drink available at grounds would improve the alcohol effect on people if anything. It’s certainly not going to make more people drink or people drink more, those that want to drink before games already do it in the pubs, on the bus or in the streets.

Why can’t clubs make it better and make money from it too?
They don’t need to make it the whole ground, you could have dedicated family areas for folk with kids who want to keep away from the drinking bit with stuff for the kids to do before the games too. It’s not for everyone, but there’s nothing wrong with trying new things.

Agree totally.

You can have a bevvy in hospo right up to kick off time. What's difference in having a pint in concourse up till ko time.

The GA Arena should be given over to tailgating 4hrs before games.
No burning the turf with your barbecues tho.

A point about selling alcohol though: in Scottish grounds the concourses are very busy even when there is an average crowd, for Tannadice the East Lower area can be packed at half time for example.

I reckon to make it workable United would have to find a way to extend a covered area around the exit gate, which is possible at the East Stand, and maybe at the George Fox as well: beer could be sold in these areas from portable/temporary bars.

During the second half that part could be cleared to allow the crowd to disperse. The main issues against this are probably Health & Safety and of course costs.

Just a thought, if it's within the rules to allow hospitality bevy within the stadium on match day is there a possible legal loop hole to make a stand a hospitality stand?

To be honest, how much would a pint cost in the ground? Well over the odds I’d say. It’s fine as it is now. Is one or two pints in the ground and one at half time gonna make all the difference to the punter(obviously club would make some dough). I’d rather enjoy it in a real boozer.

I agree with Bowers.

When I moved away from Scotland after growing up in Scottish Football, and attended other sporting events where alcohol was allowed and even promoted, it was a strange feeling. Part of me felt it would improve the matchday experience and increase revenue for clubs, another part felt that a minority of supporters would ruin it for everyone.

Recent event plus the rangers celtic games make me think it shouldn't ever happen

You can get tanked up for hours before a game. A couple of beers in the ground wont make any difference.

When is it going to be warm enough to have a pint outdoors? august/September and then march/april?

I'd say its a good idea ruined by the minority. Rangers, Celtic, Hears and hibs have all ruined any chance of we have of this happening with their poorly behaved fans.

Every club has a group of bellends and its those who will ruin it for the rest.

Agree with Tangy: it's the rockets who cannae behave that would waste it for the vast majority. Folk who think it'd be fun to fling the beer around, and those who don't know their limits/cannae hold their bevvy.

I'm in the second category these days.

Was at ac Milan v Napoli end of January. Evening ko. Pints of red peroni at €6 each just going right through ye because of the cold. Brrrr
