We currently sit-on 46 points. So at best we would finish on 76 points.
Just to give some background on just how many points we will probably need, here are what the Championship winners finished on on the past few seasons.
2017/18 - St.Mirren = 74 points
2016/17 - Hibernian = 71 points
2015/16 - The Rangers = 81 points
2014/15 - Hearts = 91 points
2013/14 - Dundee = 69 points
Looks like we will need to realistically win at least 8 of those 10 games if we are to finish on what would be a predicted winning margin of points.
And the remaining league games.
1) Partick Thistle (away) 9th March
2) Dunfermline (away) 16th March
3) Ross County (home) 19th March
4) Alloa (home) 23rd March
5) QotS (home) 30th March
6) Ross County (away) 5th April
7) Ayr Utd (home) 13th April
8) ICT (away) 20th April
9) Falkirk (home) 27th April
10) Morton (away) 4th May

I'd say a lot will depend on how Ross county deal with the loss of McKay which is a huge loss. He really is their attacking focal point.....
Do they have an adequate replacement?

We need to forget about that mate.
We need to concentrate on ourselves and be looking to win every single game.
Forget about County. We need to focus on our on form and not look elsewhere.

If we are going to win the league then I reckon we’ll need 9 wins at least including 2 against Ross County. That would give us 73 and would need County to lose another 2 aswell. I don’t think all that can come together unfortunately.

Agree with that. 1 game at a time and make sure it’s 3 points each time however possible.

Oor team won't be lookin at the opposition like that but oor fans are right to appreciate opposition/rivals issues.
We have had to suffer crazy good form from rivals main players for longer than for fkn real. Some of these cunts sold but left tae inflict without form dropping or just dissapearing to another league.
Time to ramp up the effort off the field.
Plenty have complained in the past about Utd failing in front of bigger supports but you can point out doing well with bigger supports that helped.
Oldco, Newco, Dees, Barca, Sheep, Septic, Hibs, Hearts etc in years gone by.
We went through a tough faze actually trying appreciating beating the likes of Morton, Alloa, Ross County, Dunfermline etc.
We now have a team that can possibly be better than those around us but need a support that can match the possibility/progression with the best passion and unity.
Won't do us any harm.
I've been saying for a while 72 is the magic number.
Our nearest challengers can do as they do but we need to finish with a 2 points a game average to win it.
Unfortunately that means we need an earth-shattering 9 wins out of 10.
Had we got a win at Falkirk on Saturday we could have afforded two losses out of 10 but that 5 point swing in our favour that disappeared half way thro the 2nd half has resigned us to finishing 2nd I think.
Because Ross County need just 21 points out of 33, 7 wins out of 11 does it. They can lose twice to us & still afford two more losses.
But we'll go up via the play-offs with the bonus we extend the season with 4 more electrifying games

A 2 point a game average would give us a further 20 points and therefore make us finish on 66 points SmedDum.
That doesn't equate to 9 wins (27 points).
So which is it you think we need? 🤔

I mean a 2-points per game average over 36 games Tek.

Got ya mate 👍
9 wins put of 10 would indeed be needed to reach that 72 point mark.
I have a feeling whoever the winners are out of Utd, County or Ayr that their final points tally will only be high 60's though, as all 3 are gonna take points from each other and all the teams in this crazy division seem capable of beating one another on any given day.

8 wins, maybe 9? 2 of those vs County is a must.
Of course, one game at a time, cliche etc.
2 tough away games before we play them. Huge ask, let’s see where we after the County game at Tannadice. If we’ve made ground on them we’ll have done great

If only Martin had realised at the end of last season , like most fans did, that shaba wasnt good enough to get us promoted we might have had a better chance of automatic promotion. Its annoying as fuck he stuck with him for so long 😫

21 points put of the last 10 i think we will manage.
Its a hard run in.

County need to win 6 & lose 5 games to finish on 69 points, I can’t see them losing 5 (or dropping enough points with draws). Hopefully they do, but really think we need at least 9 wins to stand a chance, it’s do-able but unlikely.

It really is just 1 game at a time. If we lose at Thistle and RC win you can throw all your algorithims in the bin, it will be over.
Its the oldest cliche about for a reason.
I did a bit of number crunching based on form over the whole season, form since RN took over and form since deadline day. We are actually on course for 70+ points if we maintain the form since Jan 31 but that's very unlikely. I think the most likely outcome is that we'll get to about 67 points and RC will finish on 70

i'd disagree - we are 5 behind and they have a game in hand - we need snookers to win this league - so as well as our form needing to be good, we need theirs to drop off.

Just to clarify mate. I think it's the players and management who need to just focus on our own results.
The supporters however will (naturally) have one eye on County's results. That is completely understandable.
Think we were at cross purposes.

Aye I guess we were
Fingers crossed they and ayr both combust and we can walk it with 4 wins 😂

I can never get excited about predicting results that far ahead. But it's definitely a league where all clubs can take unexpected points so you never know.

Think we will end up on 69 points, good enough for Dundee. However County will get to 72. The Falkirk draw and County revival against Thistle does look like the turning point. Otherwise my predictions go 71/69 in our favour.
I think we'll end up playing the Dees in the play-off final too after a tough win over Ayr.

It's a reality check when yer lookin at the future through realistic stats and historical happenings.
My hope is really mair that we now have a team that has a good chance of beating even the hardest to beat, backed up by the best support in the league and the teams that were easier beaten before the windae are mair likely to draw with or beat the cunts we are up against for a best finish.
I really mean it when I say the fans have a part to play. Doesn't always work but in this 10 match run in it will from time to time.

Spot on Mr phobia. Also just because County havnt had a bad spell doesn't mean they won't. Form is not permanent.

Falkirk 2 - Ayr Utd 0 just finished. We're 3 points clear of Ayr with a game in hand now.
County have Morton(H) the morn, Falkirk(H) on Tues then Inverness(A) on Friday before we play them on Tues 19th.

We MUST take all 3 points tommorrow and hope for a slip up in the highlands.
