Pawlett incoming also.

If he does come in then imo either McMullan, Aird or King is away as well as (obviously) Loemba.

'scuse the ignorance, but why obviously Loemba?  Has there been movements on that front?

He has had only 1 (sub) appearance under Neilson.

He'll be away mate.

Re: January transfer window

Our squad is fucking HUGE now btw.

I count 30 first team players.

Concerned we won't now sign a striker as i still think.

1) If Šafranko or Clark (or both) get injured we're in trouble
2) We don't score enough goals
3) We need a different option upfront when we are struggling to break teams down.

Good to see an attacking RB on the books - very inexperienced though

Ah okay. I was thinking that maybe there had been interest or chat about talks to pay him off.

Cheers.

No sure Pawlett is a definate but in at least 2 Aiberdeen media reports and 1 national so hopefull and fae what Robbie has said and the way the players are coming in I definately expect a striker.

I find it hard to imagine we won't get a striker.

Don't want to expect too much but if we are to have a big signing in this window it would be magic if it is a decent striker.

Re: January transfer window

Pawlett would make a big impact imo. Im sure everyone remembers him from his Aberdeen days and he is a bit of a mixture of McMullan and King (hard working but also able to beat a man) with a little bit of Aird too in the fact that he actually has that 'final ball' which so many wingers find to elusive. I'd be delighted to see him join and I think it would add some real depth to our attacking options.

Aird, King, McMullan, Nesbitt and Pawlett all able to play in those wide positions with C Smith, Nesbitt, Clark and McMullan able to fill the number 10 role. It gives us some real options and with wingers/no10s being so typically inconsistent, chopping and changing can make a big difference.

One thing I would think is that if Pawlett comes in then I'd expect Matty Smith to be loaned out. Really no room for him even on the bench at the moment.

Re: January transfer window

Pawlett played most of his least 3 seasons at Aberdeen as a number 10 not a winger. In fact, his game only really progressed when McInnes made that positional switch.  He also hardly trains because his knee is knackered, a bit like Stanton.  That halfwit McGhee kept trying to train him normally and he kept breaking down but when McInnes loaned him to St Johnstone (when he was still manager there) he was the one to put him on a reduced training programme then carried it on when he took over at Aberdeen.

I forsee a repeat of Rays's time when we were trying to shoehorn loads of number 10's into wide positions or as an out and out stiker.  Think Van Der Velden, Smith, Fraser and Andreu, now: Smith Nesbitt, Pawlett and even McMullan who most agree is useless out wide.

Still bringing in players because they are available rather than because they fit a team structure. Not good imho.

Re: January transfer window

Maybe just me but i've never really rated Pawlett. Or at least i should say i didn't get the hype about him at Aberdeen.

And i don't see how we need him really. He's of a similiar standard to the likes of Aird, Nesbitt etc.

Probably.

I'm just not sure how we shoehorn all these similiar type players in as LAO alluded too.

I've not seen much of Pawlett, mainly tv highlights but tend to agree. Would rather see the money spent elsewhere.

King Fyvie Stanton McMullan Aird Nesbitt Harkes AND Pawlett....?

Looked good in a tough intro. He is rapid. Must have impressed in 1st training sesh on top of what was researched to be thrown straight in. Some freekick. No sure if that was a one off.

Re: January transfer window

Quality striker required that is probably out of oor budget. As much as I'd like to see this I fkn worry about the new regime getting us in a bad financial way.

All depends on how much cash Ogren wants to throw at us without wanting it back like ST did after his auld man invested, publically wrote if then sneakily plundered back.

Re: January transfer window

Heard over the weekend there is a new Head of Youth coming in this week. Didn't hear a name but apparently a done deal.

Re: January transfer window

Got a name, was told to keep it quiet.

Another reshuffle / restructure isn’t ideal, but the new owners obviously want their own set up
