. Would love to see him farmed out to Montrose or for far and get game time - then see where he's at.
He's already been at Montrose.
If we are sending him back there at nearly 22 then it doesn't bode well.

He looked to have something when he first came into the squad, he's under contract so I don't see why you wouldn't.
Our choices - put him out on loan to a) get him game time and b) realise how lucky he is at tannadice OR leave him training but never playing on a Saturday. He will go backwards and definitely never make it. Some lads take longer to mature or bulk up Or whatever the issue is that's stopping him developing - we'd be as well giving him every chance

I don’t think Matty Smith is great, but I’m just disappointed that all we do (myself included) is tear into the young lads if they’re not an immediate hit.
Suppose that’s more of a reflection on the youth & reserves system, which will be re-structured again. And hopefully for the best.I'm not one for sticking the boot into young players but here's the thing.
Boys like Matty Smith and Jamie Robson have been given time and opportunities.
Both have been put on loan to lower league teams.
Both are now 21 and both have now played around 50 games or more for the club and neither is cutting it for us in the second tier of Scottish football.
At what stage fo we decide that maybe they're just not very good?

He's been ok for the last 171 minutes.
But at fault, along with Fyvie, for the loss of points last week.

Agree with Tek - and disagree anyone is sticking it into them. I just feel they have had chances and maybe simply are not good enough. I keep expecting Smith to impress. Maybe with patience RN will get best out of him?
M Smith was terrible today. It is clear that Neilsons gave him every chance, and it looks like curtains for him

I've hoped he got a chance but every time he gets his chance he doesn't look desperate to chase down or fight. Rekon he doesnae see that as part of his game.

Robbie confirms to dunfermline website we are after a striker to have 3 options up top.
Also he was sitting down with ogren last night to discuss.
Lastly he said he doesn't know Gordon Forrest- so guessing that decision was made for him. Not sure how I feel about that....but maybe they've pulled a gem out the bag for us?

Thank God.
We desperately need a big forward. Someone who we can shell the ball upto at will and can hold the ball up and bring others into play.

Same as what I’m hearing. Apparently he could be in on time for the Montrose game.

Harkes was sitting a couple of rows in front of Ashgar, there was an older guy with him...maybe his old man?

No way is he rank JD. He came from Saints as a solid left back & still will be if he gets the opportunity. Which he did not before, he was injured early and was quickly branded as Forum Shyte. Got no chance at all.

He's slower than a snail going up the hulltoon.
