4 midfielders getting signed.
I would take from that that as well as Barton, Rabitsch and Loemba's Utd careers being over before they've begun that also we may well see Matty Smith put out on loan and Allardice remain out on loan.

RN signing or a here you go we bought him for you?
I’m sure neilson will be happy enough with a boy who’s been in a USA squad than a boy who literally has 0 ability and Barton the laziest footballer and possibly the worst attitude
Exciting times I think

Waterford linked with Allardice. Hopefully he goes.
Smith out on loan or if someone wants him see ya.
Going to be hard to find clubs willing to take the contracts of Barton Rabbit and Loemba imo but hopefully we can see the back of them shortly.

I'm sure they could do a great job for McIntyre? He's looking for a brand new team

I still think Loemba is not quite as bad as folk make out.
Rabitsch tries hard but just nowhere near the standard required. And Barton doesn't even really want to be a footballer. His hearts not in it and if he is honest with himself he is picking up a wage for nothing.
All 3 can go though and if anyone is willing to take Matty Smith then good. He's had more than enough chances now. Same goes for Jamie Robson.
Allardice i still think could come good. But i see him as a player at the back and not midfield.

Actually I do agree about Loemba, came in at the wrong time into the wrong team under the wrong manager. Think he will make it somewhere under the right coach, just not with us right now

Allardice hasn’t exactly been ripping up trees at Dumbarton according to their fans, a very “meh” player going by what they say, which is the impression I’ve gotten when I’ve seen him play.
If by 20 years old, he’s not standing out in a third tier Dumbarton side, it’s unlikely he’ll ever be good enough to play for Dundee United.

Ha ha ha. Anyone that signs Barton in particular has not done their homework.
I like Matty Smith. Actually think he was one of the few bright spots under csaba and is still young. Loaning him out now would make sense but hard to see who would take any of our cast offs

I think he has something special about him but maist of his big chances to net a goal ended up as very, very embarassing freaky efforts that would put any manager or coaches off him as a 50/50 risk tae keep.
If he ends up shite or good it'll be elsewhare & benefit or hurt somecunt else.
Gid at twatter n' appreciating fans is fuckall when you just need tae get fkn promoted eh.

Loemba is nearly 29: he's really past the point of making it.

Making it as in being a part of a successful team under the right coach at a lower level was what I was meaning Pat

Always good for morale , players and suppprters to see new faces coming in.
It would also be good to see the back of Barton,Rabbitsch,Loemba,Wardrop,Allardice & Smith. Some of whom are destined for the Junior Super league East level.

You lot really have it in for Matty Smith.

To be fair, he's a bit who needs game time

Matty Smith has something about him, but like Tangy says, he needs a a run of games to settle himself into first team football.. That probably means going on loan, as Robbie seems unlikely to give him games in a two up front beside Safranko. He's not really a winger.

Another thing re Matty Smith: when we needed a goal or something different at Alloa two weeks ago, he was kept on the bench. And we all recall what the manager said about those on the bench after the game.
Which makes it all the more difficult to understand why he started v Thistle.

Pat his performance against Thisle, young lad or not was shocking. He is at the stage where his future as a full time professional is on the line and unfortunately for him it looks like part time awaits.
Its not a vendetta on my part i just say what i see.

You boys are possibly right about Matty Smith: I tend to give the younger players a bit more leeway, probably why I stuck up for Jamie Robson when everyone else sees him as a liability.
It's disappointing that we have few young players coming through the club and 'making it' now: maybe the pressure to succeed counts against that. On the other hand, watching Leeds last night, their manager seems to have no qualms about playing young lads, but they are clearly far better quality than we get up here nowadays.

Definitely far better quality. Looked good last night.

I don’t think Matty Smith is great, but I’m just disappointed that all we do (myself included) is tear into the young lads if they’re not an immediate hit.
Suppose that’s more of a reflection on the youth & reserves system, which will be re-structured again. And hopefully for the best.

I wouldn't write him off just yet but he needs to be playing and looking good or he's getting nowhere near robbies team. Would love to see him farmed out to Montrose or for far and get game time - then see where he's at.

Maybe he had an especially good week in training.
We see the players for an hour and a half.
Management sees them all week.

I'm not one for sticking the boot into young players but here's the thing.
Boys like Matty Smith and Jamie Robson have been given time and opportunities.
Both have been put on loan to lower league teams.
Both are now 21 and both have now played around 50 games or more for the club and neither is cutting it for us in the second tier of Scottish football.
At what stage fo we decide that maybe they're just not very good?
