We now only have …
Pavol Safranko
Matty Smith (can you even call him a forward?)
Nicky Clark (always injured)
In our arsenal, as regards 'firepower'.
Sick of being linked with midfielders/no 10's/in the hole/winger/2nd forward types. The type of players some punters say 'oh he can technically play upfront'.
Been this way for years now. And i refer to players like Chris Erskine, Ryan Dow, Cammy Smith, Tope Obadeyi, Matty Smith, Blair Spittal, Aidan Connolly, Justin Johnson, Paul McMullan etc etc.
Can we please, please, fucking please just sign an out and out brute upfront?
This Tony Ahsgar is supposedly this big player in the circles of Football Agents. If (and I say IF) he is ever revealed as a Utd employee, then I hope he can deliver for us, immediately.
Utd have played 26 games this season all in. 40 goals scored. So approx. 1.5 goals a game (but that is including early rounds of Betfred when we scudded Elgin and Irn Bru wins v St.Johnstone Colts).
All in all. We can look at the team as a whole and pick flaws everywhere in it. But as a team we rarely score goals. That is a fact.
Look at it this way.
In 2018 we lost 6 to Falkirk, 4 to Aberdeen, 3 to Qots (x2) ,3 to Morton, 5 to Ayr, 5 to County etc etc
How many teams did we thrash? I'll tell you...ONE!! Brechin at home on 2nd January last year.
Not fucking good enough. Nowhere near it, infact.

Actually disagree with you here mate, I think our lack of goals is down to the total lack of creativity we have in the midfield opposed to the need for a real striker.
Our recent style of playing 3 behind the striker, mainly King, Aird and Mcmullan has caused us to create so little it's made us look ineffective. King is terrible, can't beat a man, can't cross, scared of a tackle. Aird is similar but at least has a decent delivery if nothing else. As for Mcmullan, IMO he flatters to deceive, runs about a bit but I've not seen him pick a killer pass in my life.
Finally saw two balls played behind a defence today for the first time in ages and it was Safranko getting on the end of a Nesbitt pass and then Nesbitt getting on to the end of a Safranko pass. Although both missed their chances, I reckon in Safranko's case his strike rate will start to go right up playing with Nesbitt, its much easier for a striker when he has the confidence that at least one player next to him can give him multiple chances per game. Compare that to the scraps he's been living off of this season so far.
I think another striker is needed if Clark stays injured but I'm not fretting about it too much. We badly need another creative player, hopefully an out and out winger if you ask me, before even considering a striker. We can sign all the strikers going, if we continue making only 2 half chances per game we'll stay in the same situation.
Just now we need these number 10's/wingers/inside Forwards if we continue playing the same style. Just we need to sign much better than the utter shite we currently have in that area. Something we haven't managed since having GMS Armstrong Gauld as the 3.

Imagine Safranko gets injured?
What then.
What we need is pace in the final third, around Safranko and preferably 1 other ‘big man’ up there. We then need to get the ball forward and play in the final third.

We definitely need 1 proven goalscorer signed this week. Pavol has been starved of service in recent games which hasnt helped. This will have a negative effect on him also.
Oh and i would get Matty smith out on loan tommorrow.

Agree with Morph.
Every team and its dog are looking for strikers/goalscorers/bigchuntsupfront that aren't there.
Name a team & they'll be looking for one.
The style of football these days has teams looking for #10s.
Get a good #10 and you'll notice your #9 a lot more.

I’d go in for Scott Allan.
Don’t ask, don’t get.
He is, or his type is, the exact player we need.

So do I, sometimes

I get where you are coming from mate, i really do.
But unless we could get a No.10 of real quality at our level i.e. a Scott Allan or Lewis Morgan then i just feel we would be better to get the ball upfield to a big Striker who could make the ball stick uptop and help bring the likes of Šafranko, McMullan, Aird, Nesbitt etc into play.
As it is we are far too 'tippy-tappy' and just want to pass the ball to death without really going anywhere.

I've gave up on him now, i'm sad to say.
Sad because i thought there was a player in there when he broke into the team.
