Alloa V's DUFC ~ Saturday 29th December (3pm)

Alloa have proven a hard nut for us to crack this season.

Played them 4 times already this season, drawing 3 of the games 1-1 and winning the other game 4-2 at Tannadice.

They will fancy their chances of taking more points from us on Saturday if we aren't 'at it' from the 1st minute to the last.

Hopefully Fyvie recovers in time. If not I can see Bouhenna being put in midfield and Watson taking his place at CH.

As long as Barton is nowhere near the team this time .

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Saturday 29th December (3pm)

Shows how little faith Neilsen has in some of his players when bouhenna who is a centre half moved into midfield when fyvie got injured on Saturday. Murdoch remained at right back who was signed as a midfielder and rabitch remained on the bench.

Add to that Barton and Loemba who aren't even deemed good enough for the bench. Some of our summer signings by Csaba truly must be awful.

We will never see Barton in a Utd shirt again imo.

Same goes for Loemba.

Alloa seem to score most of their goals from set piece situations, with a bit of luck (!) we can avoid giving them too many opportunities.

I'll be happy with a tight win and hope to improve with early recruitment in January.

We should really have enough to be coming home with the 3 points and i hope to fuck we can.

I can see Fyvie missing out this weekend.

Today was the first time we have lost to Alloa Athletic since 1960.

58 years!

Watched these goals lost again just now.

If a cub team lost that second goal you'd be disappointed. One of the worst I've ever seen a senior team lose, without exaggeration.

For both, it wasn't worth having a goalkeeper on the park.

It's a mental issue, some of them aren't strong enough. They were shitting themselves about giving away a penalty, like in previous games, especially Watson who had done so v Zanatta in the last game and should probably have been penalised again in that match.

Too many of our players, reasonable footballers, are not cognitively strong minded.

Yep, I hope we repeat that season's outcome.

Defence suspect but you have to point at the keeper there...for both goals, should have stayed on his line for the first and was no need to run out so far on somebody coming in at that angle especially as a defender was coming across (who he blocked).  He made it easy for the striker to slip it past him.

Both the keepers are honking and every bit as shite as Harry Lewis Pavel Szromnik and Luis Zwick.

That is 5 of the worst goalies ever we could surely find a solid half decent one even like the Alloa keeper??

Meantime get Alexander back out of retirement please

These 5 are Kelham O'Hanlon esque - fucking murder

Kelham would look decent compared with what has been in goal much of the last few seasons!

I agree on the first one that he has to make sure that he gets to the ball first but given that he's got a split second to make his mind up when the balls arrowing towards an Alloa giant - I can see why he came for it. Tallest alloa shouldn't be unmarked in our box
Disagree on the 2nd - Zanatta is waltzing unchallenged through the penalty box - goalie has to rush him.
It's the defenders that take the blame for me. Bouhenna needs some fire in his belly as does Frans. Watson and The Edge are just cloggers - hopefully we find a answer in the January window

Re the first whether he was marked or not a goalie should not be rushing 8 or 9 yards for a cross to the far edge of the box.  The boy moved about 3 yards to header it and the ball was going diagonally  away from the keeper...had a far greater chance of saving it from his line.

Re the second I didn't mean he shouldn't have cut the angle down, he should have moved forward about 2-3 yards to make the boy make a decision.  The angle would have been tight and would have forced him to make a pretty decent effort to score.  By storming out like a defender he did two things, blocked the defender coming across and made it easy for the boy to slip it under/past him from a distance where he was too close to react

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Saturday 29th December (3pm)

Did you see Newcastle's goalie last night?
Had that been Siegrist (or Rakovan) the fans would have been revolting.
In my view from the opposite end (& more clearly from Arabzone coverage) neither goal was a keeper's blunder.
We need to get behind the goalies, they thrive on confidence.

Re: Alloa V's DUFC ~ Saturday 29th December (3pm)

I was at the end both goals went in at.  2nd goal I think he did what any keeper would - rushed out to try and narrow the angle and rush the boy into a shot.  Wouldn't put too much blame on him for that one.

1st goal however was a total fuck-up from him.  He either had to come for it and use his height and reach to claim it, or stay on his line.  He came oot into no-man's land and completely miss-timed the cross.  100% his fault.

I will happily get behind them at Edinburgh airport to push them on flights to Zurich or Bratislava as required.

Agree. He was shocking for 1st goal.
