So i hear.
But is the new owner getting unveiled or is it just rhetoric from Martin?
I hope to fuck it's the former.

Know what? I want to know everything about this guy!!
And before someone says we aren't entitled to know everything about him i don't mean 'what his shoe size is', his 'star sign' or whether he voted for Trump.
I mean i want to know how this move came about.
What are his ambitions for Dundee United?
Will he bringing in other business partners on to the board?
Exactly why did he keep on Fyffe and Dorward and not Martin?
Why did the negotations take so long?
Does he see Dundee United as an investment opportunity?
And most of all...'why Dundee United?'.
And if he gives a generic 'the club has a rich history, a good fanbase and a good platform to move forward from' blah blah blah i hope a journalist probes further and asks again 'but why specifically Dundee United?'.
Because lets face it there are plenty of clubs in UK football he could have invested in. What is it about DUFC that got him interested in buying over 80% of our shares and relinquishing with 1 million pounds of his own personal wealth?
It's very important we know the detailed explanations to these questions as there have been too many cowboys involved in clubs not too far away from us who were desperate for a buyer in recent times (Vladimir Romanov/Hearts, Angus Cook, Ron Dixon, Giovanni Di Stefano/Dundee, Angelo Massone/Livingston, Craig Whyte/ Rangers etc etc).
It's our club and we have a duty to know that the man who holds the reigns is up to the task.
Don't worry Tek, The Grand Inquisitor from Arabzone will have that covered
"So for the fans out there, what do you bring to the club, sell yourself to me?"
Count how many "ums" "and obviously" get mentioned.

I doubt the new owner is even in the same continent today.

Which makes me suspicious even more. Surely if youve just bought a club you are here on the day its announced and tell everyone your plans.

That's what lawyers, or maybe in this case attorneys are for, he'll have a lacky to do anything in the short term.

Aye your right but if he wanted to get fans onside straight away it would be good if he announced something today. Obviously hes at least 5 hours behind us time wise just now .

Never mind attorneys or lawyers.
This takeover has taken what? Nearly 2 years to complete?
When it's announced/unveiled Ogren should be there giving a detailed description of any and all questions.

In a lot of reports about him taking over the baseball team, he says he does this for enjoyment rather than business.
Tbh, think Martin has grabbed the money before thinking this through. Something not sitting easy with me. Hope he does well.

Martin's only ever been interested in money.

He owns us, we don't own him so I don't think we should be demanding he does a 3 hour Q&A today just to keep us happy.
But yes would expect at the very least a statement which would include when he plans to be in Dundee.
He'll realise how important the fan base is and hopefully is gonna take steps to Unite them behind the club.
He's obviously no mug so let's not slag the guy off before the ink is dry.
Understandable that folks have concerns but let's wait and watch before we get negative because he's maybe not in Dundee today?

Sounds like we read the same article but have taken v different things from it. The way I read it was somebody from one of the sports teams he owns/owned said he has fun with it but is very professional.
It's a hell of an expensive toy if that's where you are going with it.
The Sioux fall stampede arena is massive - apparently the best lower team in the USA.
Agree with others that I want to hear from him but look at Ayr United- their owner lives in LA and they are doing just fine

It raises more questions than it answers though.
One of the most important is who will he choose to run the business on a day to day basis? I'm expecting a new appointment there.

Wrong choice of words...
but for me if he's not in Dundee today I won't take it as a bad sign on its own

Nice one RR
Ain't it odd that you can buy 85% of the 6th biggest football club in Scotland for a month's wages of an EPL player?

I wouldn't read too much into the arena they play in, it will be a city owned duel ownership building like most indoor arenas in the U.S, most ice hockey and basketball teams share arenas as the sports play in different seasons, Knicks / Rangers in the Maddison Square gardens in NY, Bulls / Blackhawks in the United centre in Chicago, Lakers / Kings in the Staples centre in LA etc...….

No matter of who owns the building, they are filling it (presumably) - which would make me think it's anything but a wee tinpot company and maybe he has a bit of sports business behind him.
Scottish football, in my experience, is a very different thing to American sports. For instance, American sports fans love to be head to toe in the clubs clothing whereas Scottish football fans not so much....so a much smaller revenue stream from that

Not to mention food and drink sold during the before / after & during game, the average sports game in America lasts around three hours with all the breaks, that is a lot of time for a captive audience to spend their money, I've been to a few sports matches in America and it is a very expensive day out all in. Going back to your comment about people being head to toe in clobber the official clothing is very expensive but every supermarket sells the local teams non-official gear that is pretty decent standard and for a cheap price, you could also get away with wearing it in another country as American sports "uniforms" a pretty ridiculous.

Hopefully he (and his brother?) Have some fresh ideas for our club.
Not that I'm suggesting it for united but I've been to American football and soccer in the US and its more of an event. Tailgate parties/stalls outside the ground/Really supported by big multinationals whereas they don't get involved here.
Maybe some of that can be encouraged with us?
