Alec Gordon, Tommy Neilson, Doug Smith, Lando Ugolini, Stewart Fraser, Jimmy Briggs
Front,
Wattie Carlyle, (?), Dennis Gillespie, Jim Irvine, Neil MochanYou're great at this, Billy! The (?), is that maybe a young Tommy Millar? Before his comb over style?
Gibby Ormond.

Shed celebrates, players celebrate, so must have been a big night, was thinking 5-0 v BMG but Iain Philip didn't start that match so may be wrong

That's a fantastic photo JA never seen that one. Never thought I'd watch a UEFA Cup Final from there.
See the barrier at the front left? Sometimes used to watch the last 5-10 minutes of a half from there just for a different view before changing ends at halftime. Was at the top of the bank over there the night the ground attendance record was set and it was some sight, 28500 in there

If Japan doesn't know the year, it looks like when the pitch was widened whatever year that was - unless I'm seeing it wrong, looks like new turf on the extended part and being watered. Belting pic

September 57 was when the Shed was covered, (which you can just see in the top right) but I think this picture is much later than it looks. The pitch was moved 18 feet to accommodate the additional width of the new gymnasium and JK stand enclosure in 1961-62, and the north terrace extended so I think this photo is that 18 foot being put in and the extension of the north terracing. So sometime 1961/2

Good info thanks rms.
There must have been a fair bit of spare space on the Sandeman Street side of the ground to allow 18 feet of extension to go north.
Unless the tenements got shifted as well!

Great photo, japanarab, and fine detail redford_must_score.
Smeds, a lot of space on the north side, still is to an extent. This map is from the 'fifties>
