Re: Best Foreign Dundee United Player?

Wouldn't class Gough as a foreign player really.

Olofsson or Krivokapic for me.

Fair comment about Gough tbf describes himself as Scottish and 61 caps for Scotland means you're right

From wiki Born to a Scottish father (former Charlton Athletic player Charlie Gough) and a Swedish mother, Gough grew up in South Africa. He went to school at King Edward VII and Highlands North High School in Johannesburg, and began his career playing with the Wits University club.

Re: Best Foreign Dundee United Player?

Suppose there's a grey area with some but Gough was with United from a young age and has Scottish blood.  I'd not class the English or Irish as foreign either as they're not really having to adjust to a different culture or style of football.

Think someone did mention him Nomad and I agree to an extent, probably make the top twenty.

My bad. In that case I give my vote to juan ferreira just for how much fun I remember singing just "Juan Ferreira bring him to me, he's got a passport from Italy".  (Fuck your Theo we've got Mio was a close second though)

I can't remember what happened to him or even if he played for the first team. One of those who I thought looked good the first time in either I saw him, but then never came to anything. (Darko Bodul was another in that camp)

Re: Best Foreign Dundee United Player?

Think all the classics like Kjell, Peds, Daly, Petric etc have been mentioned but favourites from my youth included Nixon, Mio, Mixu. Some short termers that oozed class include Sergio (although he went on to nut a Japanese ref which isn't too classy). The mad monk was quality. Kalvenes too

Re: Best Foreign Dundee United Player?

I've never forgiven Mixu for the time I got stuck behind him and about a dozen of his family on the 7th of the (yellow) 9 hole course at Caird Park, and it took them about an hour to finish the round.

Re: Best Foreign Dundee United Player?

Erik Pedersen, I think he still has Brian Laudrup in his back pocket...

What a tremendous wee full-back/man marker Erik was.

Absolutely loved his tenacity, passion and rapport with the supporters.

An absolute cult Hero to supporters of a certain age.
