The guy who uploaded the video to YouTube was the Utd mascot that day and also uploaded this wonderful footage of his day. Particulary like the dressing room footage with Kevin Gallacher, Mixu, Mo and Jim McInally. Superb.

See the wee lad behind the goal celebrating when Luggy scores, only to quickly step back and look around to see if he's been noticed.
Interesting to see the late Charlie Adam there, hardly played for us. I was led to believe United periodically bought in players from local lower league sides as a way of keeping good relations with them, rather than always going for players we thought would improve the squad. Think that match was Charlie's first start.

Haha the wee man celebrating. Never noticed that before. I was mascot a couple of years later. Good times. I was sat up in the stand with new signing Walter Rojas....can confirm he did exist.

Does it again after the 2nd.

Anyone know the mascot? Looks familiar. How fast did we look going forward? Compared to today's game of side ways passing and fannying about at the back.

Luggy, my all time United hero. He hardly played that season due to injury (and the previous one actually) before deciding to retire. Great footage in the dressing room. Fucking LOL at the funster (Wes Saunders was it?) trying to clear the ba of the line when Luggy scores

I remember feeling heartbroken for him. He was my favourite player, well him and Dave Narey, and he was making a comeback from a bad Achilles injury..Graham Roberts slid full pelt right through the back of him at Tannadice, with no chance of winning the ball. I think that's the last time he played...? Limped off looking broken

The lay-off from Charlie Adam 😮 fucking garbage, his son hates United because his old man was rotten, not our fault.

Played a great nutmeg followed by a great one two and almost notched. Dinna ken what you're blethering about regarding young Charlie. He's a Dundee fan so I would hope and expect he hates United because of that and nothing to do with his old man who sadly committed suicide.

Anywaaaay, back on topic, it's a nice wee bit of past footage and good to document our best ever forwards last goal of 171. Quite apt that it's against Dundee.
Luggy was plagued with injury in his last 3 years at the club and he retired aged just 32.
You wonder if he had had more protection from refs and had avoided such severe injuries just how many more goals he could have got for Utd.
Could have broken the 200 mark, certainly.

Yes.
In regards to Sturrock it goes without saying he was amazing and a club legend. I unfortunately missed his heyday as my memories start as he was winding down. Plenty archival footage though and videos from my dads recordings....and now YouTube show how exciting he was. Incredible that we managed to keep players like him and Narey as long as we did.

Not wearing shin guards probably didn't help lol, but he wouldn't look right. Used to get bollocked from my manager for copying his socks down shirt out look!

I'm a Villa fan too and Jack Grealish is the same. Gets kicked all over the shop and doesn't wear shinnies.

I thought it was mandatory to wear them now? Saying that, there's a photo of Harry Maguire where the shin guards are tiny and look pointless--maybe he doesn't wanna wear them and this is one way of getting around the rule?

Noticed that before about Grealish, doesn't play with shinnies and has sock low down. Good player btw.

After a bit of googling it turns out it is mandatory to wear them. Grealish purposely wears a tiny pair of kids' shin guards as part of a superstition.
