Re: Assistant manager..

Laurie Ellis? Would be fine if they gel & Robbie sees his assistant in position. But did he not say not say something about a forwards coach?

Re: Assistant manager..

Its a bit disappointing and not ideal that Neilson has not been able to bring in his own assistant or coach.

Too much commotion

Re: Assistant manager..

He may well yet get in his mate whoever it is other than Stevie Crawford.

I'd be happy with that appointment.

Re: Assistant manager..

Dodds was an excellent all round striker, I'd gladly have him back, also it would wind up the funsters something rotten.

Re: Assistant manager..

I remember Dodds second stint here as a player when he was poor and wanted to be a midfielder.
He spent most of the time fucking up then screaming at the young players.
Maybe he has changed as he got older but he struck me at the time as someone who wouldn’t make a good coach
He’s certainly not done anything in that field that would make me desperate to shoe horn him into our setup

Re: Assistant manager..

Robbie talked in an interview about hoping to bring in an assistant and also talked about having a striker coach. Wee Doddsie could be baith rolled intae one.

Having listened to his punditry chat on the radio I thought no to having him as a manager in a duo with special agent Mac90 but I'm not against the idea of him being in a role coaching the attack or mibbies assisting Robbie. Mibbies just a striker coach with somecunt else the assistant. No sure who the assistant candidates are.

Re: Assistant manager..

I’d quite happily have Billy Dodds as far away from Tannadice as possible. Cunt.

It was McCall that wanted him in midfield as I recall. He did ok, bagged a bunch of goals. Nowhere near where he was years previous but we knew that would be the case.

Re: Assistant manager..

I don’t think Dodds is needed other than for the value it would have in winding up the fun

I think Neilson was mostly saying he wanted a striker as assistant to not put noses out of joint and make clear to board he wanted Crawford

Crawford been persuaded to stay at pars for now.

Might be worth Neilson seeing if Ellis and/or Easton suits him and then working from there.

No rush and Crawford might become available in future

He also got in a complete melee with Jimmy Calderwood and Sandy Clark after Utd lost to Aberdeen 2-3 in the Cup.

Gave a shit.

Re: Assistant manager..

I don't quite get Utd fans dislike of Dodds tbh.

Other than the Rangers move, which though was heartbreaking for us, i don't particulary hold against him.

He wanted more money, to win things and to play for his boyhood team.

I'd fuck over (for examples sake) Raith Rovers to push threw my move to Utd. But that doesn't mean i still wouldn't hold a wee soft spot for them or respect the club/support.

Don't want Dodds as i want him to go to the Fun for maximum meltdown scenes.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Or he comes to us and they're even more fizzing?

Going by the online reactions to him joining the Fun I reckon they'd be delighted with him joining us. Funniest scenario is him not being allowed to join the Funsters, McIntyre walking out because of it and Kenny Miller taking over as interim. The Tay Bridge would be packed.

i dont see why him coming to us would have them fizzing more than joining them?

Re: Assistant manager..

Wouldn't be averse to Dodds coming in, good coach by all accounts and lots of enthusiasm.  Would love to see Daly get the gig though if he wanted it.

I don’t dislike Dodds, but he had one good season for us and isn’t pulling up trees as a coach.
I guess I could flip it and ask what the strong driver to get him in is?
Has he worked with Nielsen before? Do they get on? Do they have the same philosophy?

I don’t know the answers to most of those questions. I wouldn’t be raging at the appointment but wouldn’t be that fussed either

Re: Assistant manager..

Got a feeling Stevie Crawford Is after the DA job.

Wasn’t there a wee rumour about Sean Dillon coming In as a coach?

The way he booted that ball off his own pus, perfectly playing in Doolan for an easy tap in - sublime.

If he can pass on that ability to unlock defences, then I can see him as being exactly the attacking coach we're looking for.
