Having seen the report on the fracking issue in the UK, I would have preferred a permanent ban due to possible negative environmental effects.
The thought of causing man made earthquakes or pollutants leaking into ground water is not something to be taken lightly. However especially down south I feel the energy companies and Tories would prefer large profits over environmental protection.
This should be permanently banned in Scotland as I would not be comfortable or happy with such operations occurring up here.

Totally agreeing with you, fracking restarted after 7 years in Lancashire today, a couple of weeks after three anti-fracking protesters were jailed under a little used piece of legislation.
The three were the first convicted since the 1930's using ancient laws, a real disgrace, simply to silence and put fear into protesters, most of whom are ordinary folk who have never been in trouble with the law in their lives.
The convicting judge is related to a cracking supplies company.

"Fracking is banned in Scotland-end of story" Our leader Sturgeon 2018.
So clearly nothing to concern ourselves with up here.

I read that about that judge and found that to be a poor decision to let him hear that case, given his links to such a company.
I fail to see how he could be impartial against those protesting against fracking as a result and it is surely a conflict of interest issue against the judge.
If the defendants legal team know or find out about that link, then surely it can be used to appeal the conviction and sentence on the grounds that the judge would be biased in favour of a fracking company and a fair trial unlikely as a result.
If any of that is true about the judge and he didnt declare thats fraud and contempt of court. Against a judge thats as bad as it could get. If he declared then a judicial review through house of lords is required. But that would not do anything as they all share car keys.
