Re: Who do you want to replace László?

I wouldn’t put anything past our current board to be honest.

If we are knocking back McKinlay cause he has no Scottish managerial experience, why are we giving Ellis ‘every chance’* to prove himself?

*the Tele btw

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

If Badger has applied and they have dismissed him out of hand that is very disappointing.

Not just a Utd great but also has an impressive coaching C.V.

Seriously though, do you know any different?

I don’t know any different. But it’s all guesswork just now isn’t it.

Billy McKinlays said he’s ok with the boy plastering that all over Facebook? Pinch of salt (for me anyway)

I would imagine he wouldnt be best pleased tbf. I dont know the guy who said it but i read that he knows badger through the foundation where he is an honorary member.

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

I don't think the timing is right for Badger--maybe in the future. Ideally I'd like Wright but doesn't look possible therefore Neilson next. I'm amazed that some people voted for Jim Duffy on that poll. Jesus!

So did his wife, roughly and repeatedly from big Hoss.

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

If Robertson got the job, Quinn's advice might have to be heeded about what pictures are on the wall.

Here's what I don't get: it's been clear for ages that Csaba was going to be leaving, even the most optimistic club board member must have known change was going to have to happen.

So why was nobody lined up to take over?

Because they’re hoping Ellis can do enough to get the job and save on another wage:

They are not going to save on a wage as they would have to increase Ellis pay and then employ an assistant to him

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

I'm quite relaxed about Ellis getting it. If he does, it's because we'll have probably won our next 2 or 3 games. That's a pretty good platform to build on. I'd be wary of offering him something past the end of the season though, even if we do go up.
I don't think it's fair to say he's tainted by being assistant to CL. I don't think he will have had any influence over that crazy bastard

I know for a fact the players were all delighted when csaba got sacked and said training now is completely different now

I think that’s fair comment
I wasn’t keen on him being in the role last time, but after he won his games I thought he should have got longer and we pulled the trigger too early as there was no outstanding candidates at the time.

I think we are in the same situation again with candidates so if he keeps winning, keep him in charge for the time being.

Should only act if it’s not working out

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

I'm not a fan of this apparent 'trial by two games' approach that seems to have built up around Ellis.

If he's the man for the job, then why would that change if he doesn't win these games? Surely it's about a bit more than that.

Anyone could feasibly go into the dugout and win a couple of games.

If he's the man for the job he has to win games.

Immediately.

The fans are at the end of their tether. That is why the patience of some (myself included) can only afford him the patience of a couple of games to show his capabilities in the Dug-Out before we move on.

This season is too important to dither and we are already into October here and are in a situation where we have no Manager and question marks over several of the Summer signings.

If we are keen on Neilson then move now. If Dundee lose their next couple of games McAnn will be fired I reckon and wouldn't be surprised to see them move for Neilson.

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

He was a player-coach at Raith for a year, assistant at utd for 2 and interim manager for 2 games. The very fact we are considering him is systematic of how poorly we are run.  I like him and his interviews and maybe just maybe he is the right man.  If he wins next 2 well then he may get a shot - but its too early for him is my gut feel - he should get a cowdenbeath type role first before aiming for main job at Utd.

Saying that he knows the players, knows the issues and is clearly intelligent.

Not sure I would label him as part of the problem, but he might of been.  I dont have that internal knowledge at Utd.

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

It will be very obvious if the players want Ellis or not. Just watch the performance at Ayr tomorrow. The level of effort motivation, (which ever words you want to use ) will tell Mike Martin what he needs  know.

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

Whatever he is, he's not a man who will speak out and disrupt.  If he is the right man he should have voiced his views on Lazlo sooner.  He clearly didn't.
We need a leader in the dressing room, in the dug out and in the press-box and one that can influence the Board.  Ellis just doesn't look to have the gravitas for that.
Looking around there are not many that fit that description and I keep coming back to Wright and maybe Neilson.

I agree.  He should have been ensuring the players understood what was required and if not challenging this and any aspects where he felt were failing.  Maybe he did and it still failed.

Disagree with a lot of this....

Its a sign of where we are and not necessarily.how we are run.

Although Ellis is not my choice, he has an equally good record as Peter Houston had before he took over at united.....and his 'trial' period included a pumping off the old huns.....yet he won the cup and got us to Europe.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: Who do you want to replace László?

Houston had many many more years experience under his belt under a successful manager before getting his chance.  Totally different scenario here.
