To prove his credentials?
Me personally i expect an immediate improvement.
So just 2 games. If it's not happening we need to act pronto.

Agreed.
He will however get as long as is possible to avoid spending any more money.
Desperate times...

To be fair, the next few games will be a real acid test for him. Up against teams that’ll most likely be title contenders as the season pans out.
Better that than him pumping the likes of Falkirk and Alloa and getting the job based on that.

If he's to be the man for the job, there is no reason why he shouldn't get an improvement out of the players straight away.
And although as much as I want wins every week, I'll be judging his suitability on performances rather than points.

3 at most for me. First game you often get the new manager/old managers sacked 'bounce'. If he gets that then the 2nd and 3rd games will probably be more telling about his credentials.

His 1st team selection could tell us what we need to know.
Will he play our best winger at RB,will he allow us to be outnumbered in CM. Will Curran keep his place. Will he allow Robson to carry on being targetted by every team we play. He needs to make changes and show that was Shambles team
I get the feeling that Ellis or whoever gets it will get about 5 minutes judging by the mood of the forums.
We're a revolting mob at the moment.

he stays till we appoint a new manager then he needs to go for me also and let a new manager bring in his man to assist him.

He has as long as it takes to get a new guy in.
2 games? Like last time.
Massive game this weekend. Could be from 2 to 8 points off the top come Sat 5pm.

This. No offence to Ellis but I don't think he'll be the man to take us up. We need a proper manager in, no point in delaying.
A 'proper manager'! If only we knew...
Was Jack Who the man to take St Mirren up when he appeared left field from the lower reaches?
Can someone please provide a list of 'proper managers' to aid the recruitment process?
'Dundee United have announced the appointment of their new manager & are delighted that he is a proper manager.'
We just don't know, do we?
Laurie Ellis is probably as good as anyone, possibly better than most, and, very importantly, knows the playing staff inside out.
