Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

This will be our 3rd meeting of the season against Alloa Athletic already (and our fifth meeting in a year).

We have a number of first team players who could do with game time (assuming they're fit) Bouhenna, Booth, Fyvie, King, Smith, McMullan, Wardrop etc.

Would you play any of these guys or just play the kids?

I'd say a mix of both.

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

1st team squad boys who need game time should be the 1st names on the team sheet imo, then top it up with kids.

Pretty sure it’ll be mainly kids tho.

I'd like to see -
SIEGRIST
WARDROP BOLLAN BOUHENNA BOOTH
CHALMERS GLASS
KING McMULLAN LOEMBA
SMITH
Think I might have 6 of the 11 right & excuse the dodgy formation

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

I'd like Loemba to get a start to see if he's any good or not.
Might have got MotM at Alloa for high fiving fans behind the goal at the end, commendable indeed, but needing to see a bit more from him.
Jury's out & would love a 'he's good' verdict.

Agree with you Tek. A mixture of the kids and some of these guys that need some game time.  Would love to see Fyvie get even a cameo for a few minutes at the end of the game.

Players coming back from injruy needing a run out should be given time.

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

My only hope for that game is we get nobody injured.

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

My hope is obviously the same regarding injuries but equally hoping confidence/new selection is improved for those given a chance whether experienced or not, new or not or whatever.

I only hope we progress if it benefits the greater outcome to help us up. Won't give a fuck if we are left with only the league to care for.

At what round does the competition start interfering with league fixtures?

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

My hope is the eleven who are selected excel themselves & provide lots of clues that will help identify our best team for the league campaign going forward (hate that cliche btw but had to use it there) and that we progress to the next round of the S.F.A. Challenge Cup sponsored by Irn Bru because I detest any defeat by any Dundee United team in any competition. AMEN.

smedDUm, I salute your courage, your strength, your indefatigability. Yet you appear to have stuck up for Csaba on several occasions, the very man who has led us to defeat on all too many matches.

You are a bit of a paradox.

For the record, I want Craig Easton to do well.

Alloa win on pens.

Booth got 45 mins, Billy King 26 and Fyvie 20 mins Is most Important to me today. We need as strong a team as possible. Good run out for the bench and young players today as well.

How many penalties has that Siegrest had fired past him so far this season?

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

A lot of positives today despite result, the obvious one being fyvie coming on could see straight a away the difference he will make, king coming on showed glimpses that will improve first team, booth has to start at left back looks a very comfortable player, I thought archie Thomas albeit needs to work on his pens was excellent and has really put his name in the hat considering how Barton and rabistch are playing atm really runs well with ball going forward, Matty smith led the line really well, zata was also ok gets stuck in for a wee guy!

Disappointed were oot good experience for the younger players and fringe players to get game time but I’ll no loose sleep over it

Re: Utd v Alloa ~ Sat 8/8/18 (3pm)

Good synopsis SM. Hard to tell about the fullbacks, both were ok (Booth off at half time, didn't see him getting injured). Young Graham came on for him & did ok. Luc Bollan good game time tho his distribution radar was offski. Edje was Edje. Zata & Thomas flashes, Zata slight, Thomas strong, both combative. McMullan always dangerous especially first half, he should be first teaming it I think. Glass might have done more but he's brand new from nowhere so give him time, might be a player there. Appere ok widish left could have had more of the ball, Matty Smith could have sealed it with great wrong-footing run on 80 mins, disappointed didn't have the finish. Goalie did everything ok incl a Superman on 75 mins. Big lad, I can't separate him & Rakovan. Did I see Fyvie pull out of a challenge? If he did I'm glad. Start v Ray's team next week. King didn't notice him in his 10 mins but another one who's fit again.

He was trying to be clever - pointing to one corner - diving the other . He'd have been better just concentrating on the shot

Made a point of watching him yesterday and he went the wrong way for every penalty except the winning one and even then he was nowhere near it

Supposedly posted a pic on Instagram showing how clean his gloves were after the match.

A very ill-advised post considering he had 6 penalties fired past him in the match.

I think Utd really need to get someone to talk to the players about social media etc.
