Johnny Russell

One of my favourite players over the years and a class guy judging by this

Re: Johnny Russell

I’m no being funny, but so what. Indulging the wishes of a self-entitled wee brat hardly makes him Mother Teresa.

Nothing makes me cringe more than seeing all these bairns at Premier League games holding up signs saying “XXXX, can I have your shirt?”

Any Bairn caught doing that at Tannadice should be immediately flung out and hit with a lifetime ban, along with their parents for allowing it. No place for that nonsense here.

The gentrification of the fitba is fucking sickening.

Nothing wrong with engaging with kids who hero-worship these guys.  That kid will remember that forever.

It’s fucking cringeworthy, that’s what’s wrong with it. It’s only recently this sort of shite has started, I’d have got left at home with a smacked arse if my old man caught me with a fucking sign.

It’s the fitba, you’re going to, no the wrestling.

i don;t see any harm in it. The wee lassie is absolutely delighted and will be both a sporting kansas city and a johnny russell fan for life.

I guess the world has moved on. personally, if that was my bairn, i'd be made up for them.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

That's a bit harsh...

That's what happens in America its a different culture across there. Can't say I've ever seen that here.

Regardless it was a nice touch. Kids getting to interact with their heroes, don't see what's to slate about it.

Lol. Totally agree. She held the sign up for 90 minutes? Imagine seeing that in the shed during the 80s. A wee spotty prick at the front "Its meh birthday. Davie Dodds geez yer shirt". He'd be slagged of for the rest of his life.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Re: Johnny Russell

Although the shirt cost Johnny Russell nothing, and I don't like the monstrosity football has become, I've got to appreciate we've moved into the 'nineties and times have changed.

The point is, a lot of football players are cunts, and Johnny isn't.

laughed my tits off at this!!! so harsh mate!!! poor lass.

Thats not a gentrification thing.  Signage at games is just more prominent in all the other sports here which in most cases, right there with you, annoying as fuck.  But womens youth soccer is massive over here, she probably idolizes Johnny.  Terrific gesture from JR and he's absolutely loved at that club he's at in Kansas, basically a cult hero already.

Good for him for coming over here.  A load of players come over at the wrong time or to cash in when careers almost finished.  He's come here and having the time of his fucking life.  Good to see.

Re: Johnny Russell

Just because we no longer see our players as heroes (quite the opposite in many cases it would seem, bordering on hatred) doesn't mean kids from other countries don't feel the same. The fact it is an ex Utd player (and a good one at that) is a really good thing imho. No different from getting an autograph. I remember getting a pat on the head by Mio and it made my day.

Too much commotion

Maybe the last couple of years has made me a cynic.

If one of the current bunch attempted to give me their shirt, they’d get it launched back at them, don’t want that sort of bad voodoo anywhere near the house.

Re: Johnny Russell

Short Story: Met JR on the weekend.  Mate got me on the pitch for the Sounders game vs KC.  Wore DUFC gear and as he was walking over to do his subbie warm-ups in second half he spots me and comes over (we were sat on the pitch behind advertising boards).  Can confirm he's spot on, spoke about the 2-0 win at Ibrox, he said that "was a good night"... I said... "pretty sure that was a Noon kick off?" which got a laugh.  Must have been straight out on the lash.

Anyway, a cherished memory.  Says a lot about the club that he'd come over when he saw the tangerine, mate said it was like he'd known you all his life.  Think that speaks to how much of a family club we are, made me proud to be an arab.  I do love our fucking club.

And JerryDungle, I didnt have to hold up a fking sign, promise.

Watched a bit of that game, the standard seemed awful.

As for JR, he’s a good lad by all accounts, not sure it says anything about our club tho tbh, more just that he appreciates the fans who’ve supported him.  There’s plenty of our ex players who are ignorant cunts as well.

First game i've been to this year, just wanted to see JR.  I'll say this though, standard is better than it looks.  The games are shite to watch, especially on these 4g pitches which the sounders have.  I've been watching a few of Rooneys games on grass, miles better.

On yer last paragraph, yeah true enough.  That goes for professional footballers in general though eh
