The one thing with McIntyre is that he falls into the same bracket of the previous few incumbents of ‘he’s not my first choice but I’ll give him my backing’
We need to move away from that as it doesn’t work.
A solid appointment that most folk can get behind
Hopkins and Wright fall into that category
MM might see them as more expensive but it buys him time as if it doesn’t work out for those guys here straight away, the fans will likely afford them more time

Hopkins/Wright will probably be the cheapest long run options as they are more likely to be successful, get us up and get the crowds back in. The rewards for success will far outweigh any savings from lower salaries/compo
If CL has been given an 'improve or else' warning I can see the players downing tools to achieve the 'or else'.

What we need is a manager who can organise, who can rally the troops.
A man manager, kick up the arse for one player. Arm round the shoulder for another.
Who can get a short, sharp message across mid-game. And has the ability to shift from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2 when needed.
Now, I don’t know much about McIntyres attributes. Hopkin would be my short term choice.
I think that's the biggest issue after Saturdays game. When we went behind there was no urgency, it was all very half arsed. Not in the sense that they weren't trying to play but just there wasn't that extra desire to run and get the ball when it went out of play etc. Very frustrating, they need a rocket up their arses

I dont think Hopkins would be the correct option atm.
His style of football which was basically launch everything into the box wouldnt work with the current Utd team.
Unless he brought with him the big CF that the supporters have been calling for since Daly left.

Then they can all fuck off too. Should be fined if that happens

Agreed, we need to stop going with the cheapest ‘he might do a job, you never know, he deserves a chance’ approach
The next managerial appointment is probably our most important in our modern history
One thin that does concern me is that there is not one man with ‘football knowledge’ on our board meaning the decision is again going to be made, by someone who can’t seem to spot a bluffer

I think it’s more the ‘well drilled, organised, hard working’ ethos that he’d bring.
It feels like we are back where we were when we managed to get Levein. We need an experienced, old hand and I think Tommy Wright is the only man for the job. He's a modern day Jim Jeffries. Dour as fuck but who cares. He's as close to a sure thing as you get these days.
I'm not sure Hopkin is the right man just now. He'd definitely be an improvement on CL but would still represent a gamble IMO

I think Tommy Wright would be the ideal man. Could we get him though? I know he is in the last year of his contract but I think St. Johnstone would play silly buggers with us.
I don't think TW would touch Tannadice with a barge pole.
There are a lot of unemployed managers out there too but I doubt all would be submitting their CV's.
Tannadice right now is a word that raises eyebrows within the footballgensia (patent that word).

I agree with you with regards to Tommy Wright, it an an unemployed manager that will take the reigns after Saturday's defeat.
McIntyre has done what we NEED to achieve this season and Hopkins also done it last season and definitely gets the best out of his resources. Another who may work for a season would be Peter Houston and might have it in him to get this club going in the right direction.
I think we all agree now that the inevitable is going to happen very soon and hopefully our new boss can bring in one or two of his own players before the window shuts.
