Re: Mike martin interview

will listen again, but nothing unexpected in there. Positive spin on most things. No mention of the manager or the need for stability IIRC

Re: Mike martin interview

I'll say one thing for him, he's A LOT more positive (and easier to listen too as a consequence) than Stephen Thompson was.

Re: Mike martin interview

This interview is a bit more probing.

The 2 secret shareholders will remain so (well until the next books come out anyway).

The investment talks are ongoing and though he wants to stay on as Chairman it would be upto the new buyers.

Backs László (but suppose he can't/won't say anything else really).

Re: Mike martin interview

MM sounds quite plausible. But it's all about results on the park.

True Pat.

I worried that the "root & branch" thing sounded like a business phrase to impress that's cheesy to most and just words.

Looks like there has been a fair amount of positive change. The Csaba branch hasn't been sawed aff, only watered with funds and players to allow him a longer term chance to succeed.

Time will tell.

If things start to work on the pitch I hope the support can change in a similar progressive way as we also have a shitload of potential in that respect too.

I was relieved to read Bowers saying the display squad are back in but only results will see that effort maximise with noise and support improved to what it can be.

Might take more patience though that none of us have left.

Re: Mike martin interview

I like him.  But he has made the fatal mistake of backing a clown.  I dont think he will sack him even if we are bottom at xmas.

So I now question his ability.

Lets see.  I seriously fear we could be bottom six come November.  With the clown we could go down.

Just my thoughts like.

Re: Mike martin interview

The interview is impressive.

MM seems to be hitting all the right buttons and making all the right noises and I can see why fans would warm to him and be prepared to give him his chance.

The big issue for me is MM's backing of Csaba. If MM is as astute as he appears, he won't simply back Csaba long term for the sake of it - if Csaba's not doing his bit to secure MM's Master Plan (win the championship), he will be punted and presumably before too much damage is done to MM's ambitions.

In the meantime, United have assembled a brand new squad and coaching set up that MM is happy with which can be handed over to Csaba's replacement.

The clock is ticking for Csaba and the scope for excuses or mitigations (as MM put it) is rapidly disappearing. Either he breaks the habit of a lifetime and starts delivering or he disappears. Hopefully Hopkins is still around for 2 or 3 weeks more

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: Mike martin interview

MM is a clever man, he's listed all the positives happening at the club and also listed how the board has backed the manager stating that he has brought in his own squad, his own backroom staff, implemented the 25 mile rule etc.
If Csaba fails and gets punted then no one can claim it's been a knee jerk reaction, if I was the manager reading that interview then I would feel that all the pressure was on me to succeed.

The pressure is on csaba to succeed. Doesnt win games then he's failed. And so has martin. Keeping the manager is his doing when 99.9% of fans can see he's a clown.
Listen i hope he does do well as that means we will go up. Anything else is failure.

Re: Mike martin interview

Going back to these interviews, have I missed the bits where MM talks about 'American' investment? Although the press are doing stories about Yankee involvement, I cannae mind MM stating this in the interviews.

I still feel it's all a bit of a diversion.

Re: Mike martin interview

Does this review of the club include the shambles of a media team? Can't even get the score right on official twitter page.

Martin talks the talk though.
