Would be a real state of Intent getting them 4 signed up.

We need:

A solid, reliable and commanding keeper.
Be happy with Ziggy Gordon at right back
A hard as nails centre half like the boy Halkett at Livi
Be happy with the Longridge from Livi or Russell from Morton for Left back
We need 2 pacey and creative wingers
A unit in centre midfield
A striker that can bully defenders and hold up the ball for support
A striker with pace who can stretch defences.

Playing at Newcastle reserves, solid, no nonsense centre half, was good when on loan to us. Get the boy signed.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Ziggy Gordon played at CH for Partick against us in the League Cup last season and was torn a new arsehole by Cammy Smith and Tope Obedeyi.  Not a good sign. He's got a bit of the Tam Scobbie about him for me: Too slow to play at RB but too wee to play at CH. Meh, all of the names mentioned so far look like us just going for all of the usual obvious signings just like we did last season ie Premier League journeymen cast-offs.  No imagination whatsoever.

We should be looking at best of the lower Scottish Leagues and boys from the lower leagues in England and Ireland too with a clear set of criteria: ambitious, seeing Utd as a step up, hard, pace, power and mental strength, as well as decent football ability.  However, no more tippy-tappy merchants.

Wants to stay in the UK and give it another crack at the "highest level" he says. Played over 20 games for Newcastle U23s this season. Wants 1st team football.

Hope this isn't true, we really need to stop this fascination with former players.

Wouldn't want him back after he signed for Hibs on the Friday before the play off final at Hamilton and proceeded to bottle the game just in case he got injured.

As for Goodie I think it's unlikely he'll be back for a third time, apparently MM isn't keen on the bad publicity it will generate.

Yes, another summer of nostalgia, lists of former players now well past their best being touted for glorious returns or getting a second chance when the 1st spell wisnae very good.

Oh the joys, DCT will just love printing the headlines.

Where are Courier / Tully getting their info from anyway......it can’t be Laslo, naebody has a clue what the feck he’s talking about !

Presume he's still based in Aberdeen. Dundee is a hell of a lot better commute than Dingwall!! How much more can they offer??? Presumably would mean him getting digs up there which probably negates any better pay that he gets.

There can't be many teams looking to take a chance on him. Great player but out for 9 months and not too much a recent history with hibs. I'd hope he would hang about and that he and keatings can play well together.

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Craig Easton coming in, he's done brilliantly at Raith and Southend before that.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

For me, McDonald had the best footballing brain in the team: had he played in a more attacking position throughout the season, with a side set up to win rather than not lose, I reckon he'd easily have been the top scorer in the division.

But see the way it was announced, today:

The Club also announced that Scott McDonald is leaving the Club on expiry of his contract.

No thanks or best wishes offered to Scott: we can only speculate why the club feels it necessary to ignore his efforts this season.

That same Joe Rice who is out of his depths with our media team? Glad media is been cleared and being set up in house.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Was pleased when we got McDonald. Not really a fan now due to him playing more in midfield than up top. As a midfielder he rates alongside our other non entities. Would have liked to have seen him in forward position partnering a target man and supplied what th crossed from an attack minded winger but hey ho that not the way Csaba plays. Deserves a bit of club recognition for his 16 goals.

Does that mean they're getting bagged or just moved sideways?

The least needing done is a new head of communications/media, if anybody had failed their loyal paying customers as much as he has (on a regular basis) and pretended "all is well" for as long as he has been getting away with it, I don't think they would be in that job very long, or being honest with themselves, merit that job, unless delusional (make your own mind up on that one)

To keep him in position with him saying "well I have this plan, and that concept" surely begs the question why haven't you implemented them in the years you've been in place?

The communication and of course arabzone, both he likes to tell anyone who cares to listen "I head up" have been a shambles and at best amateurish for as long as I can remember, so Mr Martin, will it be root and branch?
Sentiment has no place in business

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Totally agree. Joe was a year above me at school and a great lad but deary me has the live coverage of games been a nightmare? That's been happening since 2003 when I first came here. Still read about feeds going down etc. 15 years and still having technical difficulties? That's pish to be honest. Throw in stuff like little kids throwing gang signs on official strip launch and it's a bit of a minter to be honest. Joe is obviously a fan but does seem out of his depth.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

I thought Scott Mcdonald had a good season but he's 35 soon so releasing him doesnt bother me that much. I'd prefer Simon Murray to go with Keatings.
