Signings for next season ~ Rumours

So far i have heard.

Michael Gardyne
Iain Vigurs
Shaun Byrne
Simon Murray

Another one is perhaps Anthony Stokes. He was sitting in the main stand at Livingston last night. Perhaps in talks with us or Livi?

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Michael Gardyne - Would take as I think he'd settle in nicely being back home at this stage of his career.  Was played too central under JM, much better out wide.

Iain Vigurs - Would take in a heartbeat...always thought he had something.  Would add a bit of fight.

Shaun Byrne - On the band of recent games, cant say he's better than what we have
..wouldnt get me too excited

Simon Murray - Damaged goods....having said that, he would have done a job for us this year but I cant see him being anywhere else but Dens next year

Stokes - Talent wise would be one of the best players for god knows how long.  Questions about his attitude but anyone who wouldnt want him in the Utd strip is nuts.  Cant see this happening though.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

If we got Stokes in that would be three players who won the cup for Hibs a couple of years ago (Fyvie and Keatings too). Last night was told Stokes has been training with us for a while.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

O'Ware and Russell at Morton are two I've heard mentioned. Shankland at Ayr as well. I've seen Callum Morris at a few of our games recently, just putting two and two together on that one though.

I'd be going after the boy Sibbald at Falkirk to replace Fraser, and dare I say it... Higginbotham, I know he's a horrible wee chunt, but he's got a bit of ability, and more heart than either of two wingers we currently have.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Tam o’ware and Callum Morris would be a good centre half pairing. Better than what we had for most of the season with Durnan and Scobbie.

Mark Russell looked good and Is certainly better than Jamie Robson.

Lawrence Shankland I’m not too sure about. Declan Mcmanus, Nicky Clark and Gavin reilly all out of contract id rather any of them.

Stokes would be a cracking signing, him and Keatings up top could be excellent.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Watched Sibbald closely in the game against us recently in view of his name being banded about. I’m no seeing it. Maybe just played poorly as we were so great  .

Higginbotham - ( or mingingbottom as Billy called him  ) hate the wee ned mutant. Always plays very well against us , clearly has talent the dirty wee shit. Definitely take him.

Stokes has undoubted talent and skill but the horrendous baggage he carries with him and the serious attitude issues ( fek sake even Lennon had to bin him ) . Think this would be a mistake despite the obvious benefits.

Be interested in Morris if he is keen to come. Definite improvement on Durnan. Him and the Mosh would be ideal if possible.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Calum Morris can fuck right off for me. He played ok when Fojut talked him through games but after the big Pole departed he was pretty pish and often injured. Also heard one or two stories about him that if true annoyed me about him.

It was one thing when Utd kept re-signing players who had been class for us (Goodie, Gomis, Dixon etc) but quite another us attempting to re-sign guys who were no more than bang average at us (Gardyne, Morris, Murray etc).

I agree in principle about signing ex players however Gomis wasn't so bad in his second spell in fact there is an argument with the final vs St J to say if he'd had started then we could be on 6 majors

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

I'm sure Morris only started two games after Fojut left United, McNamara fucked it up for him when he was injured at McDermott Park and McNamara kept him on making his injury worse and also costing us three points after being in a winning position.

I'd have him back if we're going down the road of bringing back ex players, doubt he would leave Dunfermline though, they seem to be a good fit.

He was with us up until (and including) our relegation.

He did seem to be just almost always injured after that game in Perth however.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

Edge and Scobbie both been told they can find new clubs according to the courier today. A host of first team players to be told the same next.

The Clear out begins. 👍

Good to hear. Neither even remotely up to the standard required if we’re expecting to challenge next season. Hopefully Murdoch and Toshney to join them.

Edit: Scratch that. Murdoch’s apparently getting kept, Flood too as player coach. Fyvie and Mohsni have been offered new deals, and United are to confirm today that Laszlo’s being kept on for next season.

He's like a cockroach, no matter how many times we try to flush him away, he keeps coming back.

It's a strange one though, from what I've heard, he's not too enamoured with Csaba.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

The Courier if naebody has seen it:Manager Csaba Laszlo has wasted little time in telling a host of his players that they can leave Tannadice.Indeed, the number of first-team squad members he wants to keep can almost be counted on one hand. The Tangerines crashed out of the Premiership promotion play-offs at Livingston on Friday night and the following day there was a meeting called at the behest of Laszlo to break the news. The Hungarian, who is expected to be officially confirmed today as staying on next season, wants to clear the decks. It is understood that defenders Bilel Mohsni and Stewart Murdoch have been told they are still wanted, while an offer has been made to injured midfielder Fraser Fyvie. However, through the exit door is expected to go the likes of Scott Fraser, Scott McDonald, Paul Quinn, Mark Durnan, Jordie Briels, Grant Gillespie, Emil Lyng and Craig Slater, while the loan deals for Harry Lewis, Anthony Ralston and Thomas Mikkelsen have concluded.William Edjenguele and Tam Scobbie both have a year left on their contracts but they have been told they are free to find other clubs, while captain Willo Flood would be retained but only if he fancied an expanded role to include coaching.

Re: Signings for next season ~ Rumours

1st team Players in contract:

Murdoch, Edge, Scobbie, King, McMullan, Stanton, Keatings, Smith

End of Loan:

Ralston, Lewis, Mikkelson, Slater, Mason

Out of Contract:
Deniz, Quinn, Durnan, Robson, Moshni, Flood, Fraser, Fyvie, Gillespie, Flood, Briels, Lyng, McDonald.

Out of the out of contract players, I would offer Fyvie and Moshni extensions. The rest could fuck off.

First signing should be an experienced goalkeeper. At least 25 years old and played a couple of hundred 1st team games...
