Leaders

Monday wasn't down to a substitution.  King had a bad game, hes had a bad couple of games and deserved to go off.  Yeah Lyng is shite but that turnaround had nothing to do with him. Blatantly unfair to blame him OR the manager changing things in my opinion.

Reason that game turned around on us is at around the 60-65 minute mark, they started bullying us, made a couple brutal challenges that could have been red on another day, they took 2 or 3 consecutive yellow cards and to me, that needs responding to.  You're not asking your forwards or youngsters to dole anything out because that's a time when a leader needs to step up, take a number of the cunt whose just gbh'd one of your creative players and go fucking through the cunt.  As it happens, we've no fucking leader out there and if it's supposed to be Willo fucking Flood... fuck right off.  Game turned from that point forward.

Don't know how you solve a problem like that before Friday.  Clear to me after Monday that a player like that is required next year. Doesn't have to be a bad footballer, but somebody willing to stand up and protect our "creative" players.  I've only been able to watch maybe 1 third of games this year probably less but I suspect thays been an issue since Fyvie got hurt.

I was at the game m8. The timing of the substitution, and the actual substitution was an issue in itself.

Livi were waiting to take a throw-in. Lyng came on, he didna get into position near quick enough, allowing Mullin to have 10 yards oe free space all round him. Lyng then failed to close him doon, failed to tackle him, failed to bring him doon, and then Robson maks a chunt ie it, Mosher is just about close enough to have an impact but he does' na.

No sayin Lyng was solely to blame for the goal, but he was to blame for his ain failings, and therefore partly to blame for the goal. Hae a look at the highlights.  It's staring you right in the face.

Re: Leaders

Agree with Billy H, Lyng wasn't up to speed, isn't really up to much anyway, and the timing of the substitution was all wrong. For me, Flood should have been off, for Gillespie (who doesn't convince me) around the hour, and if King was going off, McMullan was the obvious replacement.

I don't recall any opposition player being to blame for Fyvie's injury, it was his own desperation to get a challenge in, trying to cover for the back four, which led to the damage (I think). It was probably a needless challenge too.

Watched the game Billy. We've two defenders who should be dealing with Mullin there, goal came from nothing. You're 2 vs 1 there and should be switched on as defenders. Cant blame a winger/forward who'd just been injected into the game. So unfair that.  Defending on both goals was atrocious.  The tide of that game had already turned before the substation.

And I'm no apologist for the manager or lyng.  But to blame that on a substitution is hurt sighted and unfair. In my opinion

Re: Leaders

To be fair to you, RRDH, your main angle appears to be concern at the lack of players prepared to step up and match the opposition bullying tactics, and that is a very good point.

Re: Leaders

That’s a big problem right through the Club, the lack of leadership is absolutely frightening, until that gets sorted out it’s always going to be a struggle.
