As it says on the tin.
Was having this discussion today. I remember going into the playoffs last season with very little hope of beating even Morton or Falkirk. That win at the Falkirk Stadium was an absolute shocker to me. The fact that the group of players we had last season came within one goal and a couple of dodgy refereeing decisions from getting promoted shows that the task ahead isn’t as insurmountable as some would have you believe.
As shite as this season’s been, we at least don’t have Van der Velden or Van der Struijk anymore, Edge doesn’t get a game anymore, Toshney’s nowhere to be seen, and the powderpuff Spittal and Telfer are thankfully long gone, replaced by the marginally less powderpuff Stanton and King.
If nothing else, we have a bit of pace this year, and a proven goal scorer in the squad, not to mention a competent centre half for the first time since Fojut and Morris.
Obviously nothing can be taken for granted with this group of players, but are you more optimistic going into the playoffs than you were at this time last year?

Simple answer - No.
Think we are even worse. But you know what, there is still hope. Hopefully 3 two-legged cup finals ahead and you just never know. Can this lot raise their game and play with passion commitment and desire ?
I doubt it but here’s hoping.

Sadly i'm not, no.
Are we better than last season? Also no.
We finished 3rd again like last season (albeit with more points than last season) but it's been a poorer Championship this season minus a genuinely good side in it like Hibs.
Mohsni and Ralston have been upgrades, i agree.
But not sure we have a player now with the quality of Andreu. The pace of Murray or the shot stopping ability of Cammy Bell.
All in all i would say last season's squad and this seasons is about on a par with each other.
I think we may get by Dunfermline and maybe even Livi but will probably come unstuck against the Premiership side again.
Not because County, Partick or Accies/Dundee are any great shakes themselves you understand. But the Play-Off Final is stacked in their favour given our schedule of upcoming games.
We would need to get lucky with injuries and suspensions as well as the obvious problem of fatigue kicking in.
Not an impossible task. But i wouldn't put my money on us succeeding.

Er no.

Some players stepped up to the mark for the play-offs last year (Murray, Spittal), while others disappeared (Andreu, Mikkelsen).
But it's relative. All the teams in the play-offs this season are poorer than last, and arguably the teams at the bottom of the Premiership are also of a poorer standard.
So it's doable. But I doubt we'll do it.

No. We've been brutal away from home all season, don't see that changing in the playoffs.

We are definately obviously not better overall.
Similar in many pish ways.
Moshni and Tony Ralston have improved the defence, midfield has missed Fyvie and Fraser and McDonald's score ratio is far better than Murry's.
Big occasion players versus shite it players might be on a better ratio.
Deniz the Mehmet seems to be on better form than Harry Lewis.
A lot depends on King and McMullen on the wings, Big Mikk playing to his strenghs over sitting on his arse with his hands in the air looking for Chris Sutton type fouls and a break fae very pish repetitive poor refs especially at Tannadice.
We are no better so far. Time to step it up on the pitch and in the fuckin stands!
