Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

The Dundee Courier reporting Utd as having an interest in signing him for next season (he's soon to be out of contract).

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Probably the exact sort of player we should be looking at. He’s been an integral part of a hard-working Livingston side that has overachieved massively. And he’s still young enough that he has the motivation of winning an even bigger move elsewhere if he shows up well enough.

Also heard we’d contacted the boy Vigurs from Caley.

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Callum Morris walked past me at the Brechin game the other week, might just be nothing, but I did wonder.  Always rated him at United, and he seems to be over his injury troubles that plagued him, and a lot of others while they’re here. He’s looked strong and aggressive anytime we’ve played Dunfermline this season. Could be the big nasty, no nonsense centre half we need to partner Moshni next season.

He’d be a big upgrade on Durnan if nothing else.

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

I liked Morris....but injury prone......and then MixedUp shafted him at Hampden.

Returning players always a no with me, just never works.

Any exceptions that prove the rule?
Andy McLaren?
He maybe wasn't even a returner, the memory fades.
Who has been our best returner then?

Btw guys, bad news. I'm pussy seek of Mad, it's just got worse & worse with these constant infiltrations from that shithouse dump over the road & it's doing my head in. So the bad news is I'll be spending more posts on TT

Oh fuck

Billy Dodds did ok when he returned, Morgaro Gomis in his second spell would have been in the team for me, more often than Rankin/Paton, but most returnees disappoint.

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Willo was excellent in his 2nd (and eventually) 3rd spells.

His 4th (and current) spell a dissapointment however.

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Anybody else see this as blatant celtic-ism? Just trying to disrupt an opposition team before  big game (potentially if we get there)?

They did it will willo, they did it with fransie and Josie....

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

I'll ignore your first comment

Dodds & Gomis are decent examples & you're right about the latter. He should have started in the St Johnstone final, bad McNamara.

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Dunfermline fans didn’t rate Byrne

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Does seem out of order that we should be putting it about that we are interested in opposition players right now.

The Byrne story in courier presumably must have come from the club. They know we are playing them today and hopefully in play offs

If Livi go up we are not getting him - he is staying at Livi

That said it’s the right kind of player for us to go for. Good to get in decent proven championship players

Hearing we’re also after Thomas O’Ware at Morton.

Thomas O'Ware would be a decent signing.

Decent player at Championship level. Could he cut it in the Premiership though? Not convinced.

If we stay down then this would be a solid signing.

Re: Shaun Byrne ~ Livingston midfielder

Someone sitting near me mentioned that he heard that we have signed Iain Vigurs from ICT, has anyone else heard this?

I've heard his name mentioned, but I think we'd be daft to make any signings before knowing what league we'll be in next season.
