Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Wasn't there, my laddie thought we could have scored more, and also lost a few.

Livingston result went for us, but think we'll run out of games to finish second.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Better but holy fuck our defence is terrible, if that had been any other side (bar Brechin)...

Some good play going forward at times and some good movement, shame it didn't get the end product it deserved. Again this would be costly against other sides.

Don't want to be too negative but can't help feeling this was more down to poor opposition rather than any major improvement by us.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Our goals came from actually pushing forward first time when we got the chance rather than dithering or passing sideways. Hopefully learning lessons. Mohsni was good, McDonald is a good focal point when we have wingers. King is decent when we are winning but goes missing when we aren’t - so he was positive tonight.
Great first touch from McMullan for the first goal

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

We were decent in patches but that defence is at best shaky. Moshni keeps the defence together and obviously likes a goal. He will be a good signing for us and I hope we can get him for next season as well. Well done Luggy. One or two more like him for next season hopefully.

McDonald and Mcmullin in particular.

Slight encouragement at last.

I didnt think we played that great tbh. Looked shakey at the back and pretty powder puff up front.
Dont get me wrong happy to see a win but a decent team would have scored a couple against us tonight imo.

That was my h/t view. Agree still not great at the back, Durnan in particular needs to concentrate. Mosh had a couple of mistakes but again played well. Looking like a good signing. Still not rating Harry Lewis at all, not good enough.

Second half thought Billy King played very well, needs to keep this standard up.

Usual shite fae Clancy the penis, how the fek was that not a foul on Stanton. Disgraceful decision, boy was injured ffs.

Overall one of the best performances in a season of utter shite. Dumbarton though. But perhaps we are turning the corner just in time. Hope so..

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

A lot better tonight albeit against pish, mohsni has made a difference 100% both defensively and attacking very dangerous from corners, disgrace about lewis thought he was really really good tonight made 3/4 very good saves, yeah he made a baws up at one stage but who gives a fuck he recovered so well done, Murdoch better than robson, ralston decent a lot better attacking wise, Stanton good running wee the ball, my proplem with our team is the wingers, they come short ALL the time they never ever make runs in behind cutting in behind there full backs it pisses me off massively it’s no like the lads are any slouches fs! On to sat must win again, ftd

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Very glad to get a win. Feels like months since we've seen one at Tannadice. Well actually it has been .Our last win at home was against Brechin way back on January the 2nd (over 3 months ago!).

Was also our first clean-sheet in the league since the 2nd week of January (0-0 v Dunfermline away).

We created a good number of chances tonight and but for a mixture of poor finishing and good goalkeeping from their Goalie Gallacher then we could have had a few more. Worryingly though Dumbarton also cut us open a number of times and a better team would surely have stuck a couple by us themselves tonight minimum.

I don't actually think the defence is that bad. A lot of the chances the opposition create always stem from the oppositions own half. We really really are crying out for 'ball winners' in  midfield. Flood is totally finished and boys like Stanton, McMullan, King, Fraser etc etc are just no use in a defensive capacity.

Lewis - Overall done 'ok' One good smart instinctive save with his knees when their forward was one on one. One absolutely horrendous mistake though when he dithered and played their boy right in about 6 yards from goal. Thankfully their boy also dithered (probably in shock at the ball literally landing at his feet) and he was able to get a save in and rectify his own error. I like the kid and think he is a good shot stopper (the bare minimum requirement for a pro keeper though, let's be honest) and has a first class attitude, no disputing that. But it concerns me just how many errors are starting to creep into his game. Moving forward as a club we need an experienced goalie who is vocal and good at collecting crosses from set-pieces and in general. 6/10

Ralston - Thought he did ok. Gets forward to fairly good effect but was caught out of position also on a couple of occasions. 6/10

Durnan - Done ok. Not that he had much to do. 6/10

Mohsni - By far our best defender tonight. Looks a commanding and physical presence. Just what we have been looking for actually. Also looks like he will be able to chip in with goals fairly regulary. Made one slack header back to Lewis that nearly put their forward in one on one. But to be fair he showed good pace and desire to get back and rectify his error. Glad he is winning his doubters over. Becoming a wee bit of a 'cult hero' 7/10

Murdoch - Done ok. Again like Durnan didn't have much to do though. 6/10

Smith - Game passed him by for me. Barring the Qots game away that we won 1-3 I don't think he offers enough to us when he's starting games. Would have him back on the bench on Saturday 5/10

Stanton - Started the game brightly but 2nd half he wasn't quite as effective 6/10

Flood - Never offered much to us again in an attacking threat and all to often 'chasing shadows' for me also in terms of chasing down the opposition. Albeit his ball retention is still by and large good. Sad to see him now though really. Shadow of the player he was for us previously imo. 5/10

McMullan - Started the game well and had a few good runs forward and took his goal well. Boy is he frustrating though. Lost count of the amount of times in the 2nd half he either couldn't beat his man or just wasted a cross. There is a modicum of talent with the boy but he really has to work harder on his game in pre-season (if he's still here) to cut out the numerous errors he makes. 6/10

King - Done ok. Had a few runs forward and a couple of good shots. General ball retention from him was good also. He is a bit like McMullan though in that you think he has a wee something but you are waiting to see him do something more in games and it never quite happens. 6/10

McDonald - Great ball in to McMullan for our first goal. Generally did ok. Pity his pace has by and large deserted him. Still, he has appeared a bit more 'up for it' of late and doesn't appear quite as sullen and petulant. 6/10

Mikkelsen - Only on at the death. Don't even know if he touched the ball. 1/10

Slater - Very quiet 2/10

Fraser - Really injected a bit more tempo into our play and passing the minute he came on. Night and day compared to Smith. Still obviously a good bit away from full fitness as he faded a wee bit towards the end. Good to have him back though. Fingers crossed he keeps injury-free from now until our season ends, whenever that may be. 6/10

Hopefully a confidence producing win and that we are back in the play-off spots so quickly is a bonus. On to Saturday now and we must win to try and hit form now and try and claim 2nd spot.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

I want Lewis to do well however he isn’t. That hesitation in the first half clearance mess was almost a disaster, was very poor decision making. Had another moment of muppetry second half. His kicking is poor. Did have a couple of good saves whis is encouraging. Really not convinced though , seems very low on confidence, not been helped by the arses in front of him this season certainly. Will improve with the Mosh there now hopefully.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Ovetall a deserved 3points. We could have scored more bad  misses by Mcmullan and Stanton. We could easily lost a goal 3 bad errors by Lewis Durnan & Moshni.  Downside i thought Smith was rotten Fraser looks like its pre season fitness wise and will CL ever  play Gillespie.

Funny how people see games differently, I thought Flood was MoM with McDonald a close second.

Bottom Line;
3 Points and a clean sheet, what's to moan about.

I don't know a lot, but I know what I like!

Indeed Sir.

Ach, maybe I am being a wee bit harsh on the wee man. I do feel though a lot of our problems (in terms of losing goals) often eminate from the midfield letting the opposition midfielders have far too much space and time to either run forward at our defence or pick a pass out.

As Flood is our Captain and most experienced player I guess I expect a bit more from him. Though i will say one thing for him. He always, always, gives 100%.

I guess he is perhaps trying to do too much out there as unfortunately he really doesn't have a partner in the whole squad who can offer protection to the defence in the heart of the engine room.

Although i don't rate him at all and want him gone asap, Csaba did tbf to him try to rectify this problem by trying Quinn in there. And it worked in Dumfries but failed just a few days later. We're pretty much fucked in that position imo. Killie fans really rated Slater it would seem. He's been a huge letdown.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

That was a no bad game. Not brilliant, but good just the same. A better performance than there's been in a while, and better than I expected. Defence stil flaky.

A great ball thru from Skippy to McMullan for a good finish across just inside the left post.
Kings been getting slated for a while, but that was probably his best performance, certainly the 2nd half, unfortunately a lot of these went straight to the hands of the Dumbarton keeper. It was his cross in from the left to McMullan, who seemed to scuff his pass to Mosh a wee bit, that let Mosh take it from the defender and the keeper to give us our 2nd.

We shoulda had 2 or 3 more. 1st half McMullan had a great attempt from the left, which just went across goal. 2nd half Skippy had a great cutback from King, but even 8 yds out, managed to put it over.

We had a great opportunity in the 1st half where Flood broke right doon the middle, McMullan to his right, and Skippy to his left, with only 1 Dumbarton player in front of him. Unfortunately he chose the least good option, and passed left to Skippy, who had a good attempt but the acute angle made it a straightforward stop by the keeper. If Flood went right to McMullan, who was unmarked and more centrally positioned, it was almost certainly in.
Ralston played well, some good examples of individual play from him esp. 1st half, one where he got down the right-wing, got passed 3 Dumbarton players, and put a cross in.

Lewis didna have much to do. He near gave us all a heart attack when he tried to dribble round a Dumbarton player. The guy got the ball and had a punt which he managed to dive down to stop. WTF was he thinking of.

A very welcome 3 points - and a clean sheet, but we still lack the killer instinct. It was highlighted late in the 2nd half where there was a stasis which seemed to creep in. (scoring more goals and GD being the key point). That's what's keeping us in 4th instead of 3rd. Attendance for a League match (< 4000), even for a midweek game, must be one of the lowest in a while.

MOM for me probably Skippy or Moshni.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Best 4 players for me -

MOHSNI
McMULLAN
McDONALD
KING

in that order but the two Mc's tieing

Mohsni might just be the catalyst we've been needing. He has a calm assurance. Think Skippy might be enjoying having him in the team, he's been looking a bit huffy of late but was looking good last night.

Re: DUFC v Dumbarton ~ Tuesday 3rd April (7.45pm)

Still no sure about keeping 3 of them. Better last night and could have scored  and conceded more. Didn't get the bad luck of late when the opposition gets every break including screamers, goals fae nowhere and cunts that never score other than fae the ref again, but that's not luck.

Hope we're saving oors for the last gasp important part but not expecting much.

Mohsni and McDonald i'll give you. The other two, for wide players their crossing was terrible.
