Wasn't it decided to be named after him while he was still alive?? Seem to remember ET saying he thanked the fans for deciding this. I've no idea what Fans he was referring too.

Fae Pat Reilly onwards. Some affy respected folk that had a positive impact without contest.

Yes it was renamed before he died, about 6 months before.

No, I don’t know which fans decided it.

As said by others, for it to be our ‘spiritual’ home end there is no way it should be named after a bit part player like him, who named it when he owned it through vanity reasons alone.
The Thompson association with the club has been nothing short of disastrous, from splitting the fans in the old UFC days, to saying he had the money to back us before plunging us into the financial abyss. History will not remember this lot kindly.

Should be named the Jim McLean stand, the fair play and Jerry Kerr should be renamed the Jerry Kerr stand, we have the dode fox, the shed should be renamed the Pat Reilly stand. Arguably the 4 most important figures in our club history

Is it worth starting now and getting it to Mike Martin?

On the plus side it lets his mate know he’s not going to slink off into the sun completely Scot free.
On the negative, obviously he won’t do anything about it.

I’d have some section of the ground as The Legends. We have a good few of these who have played 500+ games Narey Malpas McAlpine Doug Smith Heggie Luggy. We don’t have to worry about future legends as tks to Bosman and Sky we are unlikely to have any more.
