Just in the short-term i.e. till the seasons end?

Doubt Luggy would want to try and make a silk purse with these pigs ears.

He was up for the job last October mate.
Would he be now? Not so sure myself.

Ellis in short-term but Neilson would be the obvious choice. What the club needs is someone who would give us the funds so that we had the breathing space to regroup as a club without the need to instantly get out of the Championship. A medium term project rather than the short-termism currently.

Got to agree with LAO. We've been on several short term fixes for the last 3 years or so and it has gotten progressively worse.
We have too many players on short term deals that don't give a fuck if we get promoted as they are away next season. We are paying over the odds for these football mercenaries with very little return for their services.
We also have a manager who waffles a load of pish and probably doesn't get his point across to the players very well as a result and that translates to a total shambles on the pitch. Add into the fact it looks to me like Lazlo lost the dressing room after a month or so.
With the current approach to papering over the cracks until we are back in the Premiership we are just digging a grave for ourselves.
Could you imagine if we were in the Premiership with these charlatans playing for us and our acid trip of a manager deciding how we should play? It gives me the fear.

I’d be shocked if he’d take it, but Neilson’s the outstanding candidate, with Pedro and Stuart McCall both solid alternatives. Neither should take over until this season’s over though, there’s no reason for the new manager to be associated with this abomination of a season
Stick Ellis in charge for the games we have left, and try and get him to instill a bit of pride into this sorry bunch, as he did before Csambles took over.

High chances are this team wouldn't get through the Play-Off's but whilst there is still even a chance i feel we shouldn't be just writing off the season. Read some fans saying 'play the youngsters and write off the rest of the season'. I disagree with that. There's too much at stake for that.
Yes, we have some poor players (more in terms of heart and desire or lack thereof than anything else) but i don't think they are that poor. As poor as we are currently witnessing.
How can the side who were top of the league and demolished Falkirk 3-0 going on 8 with about 25 shots on goal in October then go and capitulate to the same team 6-1 just weeks later? How can the team who demolished Livi 3-0 on December 23rd (throwing in a missed penalty into the equation for good measure) get so thoroughly outplayed by the same side just weeks later? How can the team who totally dominated St.Mirren at Tannadice get so outplayed by the same team a few weeks later?
Because the players are devoid of confidence in themselves and in the Manager.
But football can change just as quickly the other way as well.
If we got in a Houstie figure (for arguements sake) it would immediately galvanise the entire club and support. The toxicity surrounding the club would ease slightly and the support would rally.
Even if we gave it to Laurie Ellis i think the fans would get behind him. Maybe bring in a Paul Hegarty type as a Coach to aide him till the seasons end and bring a bit of heart back into the club?

The thing with going for Ellis is that - he was there when we had Mikkelson the first time. He is also part of the team that re-signed Quinn. He is also part of the team that has signed Gillespie. Do you get my drift...? Presumably, he's had input into these player coming in that we all know aren't good enough! My heart says go for Sturrock but my head says Hughes or Neilson

Dunno who we could get, but the bit about the players lacking 'heart', if that is commitment, is right.
Several look like they are uncommitted, to the club and the management team. They don't want to overstretch themselves, as they know they are off at the season's end. But the worrying thing is the likes of Murdoch, Edge, McMullan, King: they are contracted to the end of next season, but look like they aren't dedicated to the cause. Add in Toshney and Keatings, out injured, Scobbie, who looks like he cares but lacks mobility (fitness), and we have a core of players who will give headaches to whoever comes in.

Too many players unfortunately just see the game as a job and not a vocation or passion.
The best Manager's quickly get players to remember it is the latter and enjoy coming into the club and playing games and entertaining.
We need a man who the players present and future can get behind. Who they will want to win under. Too many presently don't look like they even wan't to play football full-stop. We need someone (in the longterm) who can revitalise the entire club from top to bottom the way Levein did.

Shabba has to go immediately, preferably before lunchtime today.
I would take Mac90 / Dodds. Stuart McCall would be a good shout. Experienced and would sort this shower of s.hite out. Nielsen also but not sure he would come here in the current disaster mess.
Whatever happens, Shabba out today please and give it to Laurie Ellis until whenever.

I'd go for Luggy. Last time out for him wasn't a success but there were factors then - his limited experience and the mess we got into after wee Jim's era finished. Since then he's gained wide experience and some success. He's a fan of attacking/defending football and a critic of side to side stuff and he still cares. For his health reasons, this probably wouldn't be a long term appointment maybe just enough time to turn the club around and hand the club over to a non-numptie - there must be some out there.
What the club desperately needs IMO is a performance management specialist. We are under performing/under-achieving on so many levels and need someone able to provide professional support to whoever the next manager(s) is/are. Guys with a football background alone just don't have the expertise required.

Neilson

Unsure about Luggy: why uproot yourself from retirement in the south west climate to inherit the grief that goes with the territory at Tannadice? And if Mohsni is his recommendation, I'm already wondering about his judgement.

PS: cannae see Csaba leaving until we are confirmed as in this division next season.

Not one manager could take this squad and get it promoted. I'd love to see McCall in charge but no danger has taking this.

Ken a Hearts season ticket holder and he fkn hated having Neilson as a manager.
