As Chairman? (Apart from him to leave asap 😀).
Serious thread.
What are the list of things that he could do as Chairman that would win you over to the idea of him being Chairman of Dundee United?
Offline
He firstly needs to take part in an extended free-to-all ArabZONE interview where he kills his past stone dead by answering questions in relation to Newcastle Jets, a relegation and at least two seasons in the Championship on his watch as Vice, ThomMar/United FC Group Limited, the sneaky 33% share purchase that nobody was supposed to notice and his acquisition of Gussie Park.
If he wants to endear himself, he could also talk a bit about his favourite players, games and moments being an Arab, doing so would make him relatable - a fan on the slopes like the rest of us.
He also needs to promise transparency and regular, at least quarterly, updates on the goings on at the club a la Ann Budge. I cannot believe the club didn't say anything about the 33% share purchase until this last week (slotted in amongst the Gussie Park statement).

Sort out the finances including get Gussie back into Utd’s ownership without it having cost the club a penny.
Appoint a manager with a brain to run the football side and let him do his job on a fair budget.
Get real investment in the club without giving away the family silver.
Run the club on a break even basis, we can’t sustain these losses every year and the uncertainty it brings.
Get all loans paid off, and make sure we don’t ever end up in this state again.
That’s what I’d be looking at as a “5yr plan” for starters.
I expect none of that to happen, and things to progressively worsen in a rapid fashion.

Talk to the supporters
He says he should be judged on his actions as chairman, fair enough
Tell us what your vision is Mr Martin

His departure.
MM is ST’s mate, his business partner, his patsy in the current scams which are currently destroying the club, a complicit part of a board that have shown a sustained and prolonged period of incompetence , mismanagement and the accumulation of debt.
He is there to continue ST’s bidding in his absence, perhaps move on the next stage of their joint plans involving our remaining assets and (Stephen and Mike’s) United FC Group plans to take advantage as they depart the scene.
His departure too would be best.

Feels like all that is possibly true and the general agreed feeling from those who post online and others who have an inside opinion. I'm feeling nothing from ST news as a result.
I can only hope MM can prove us wrong.
We all mainly expect it's a fit up and ST has planned this with him, a shite distraction and fake fix.
Maybe MM is taking over with a similar mind set to the majority though. Did he want rid of ST?
Who could take over without being onside with ST?
He is blamed for being in ST's ear on all the bad stuff.
How much is he to blame?
Not expecting anything like most so he has a good starting point in that respect but is fucked afore he begins in most fans's opinions.
Like swopping Hitler tae Himmler
Prove the support wrong MM.

I feel like he's doomed to fail from the start. Unless he can distance himself from Thompson he'll never win the hard-core of the fans over. Rightly so too, he's been on the board during the worst time in United's history and nothing can change that! It seems to me another smoke screen, likely to halt a boycott to season ticket sales.
All I really ask from him is transparency between chairman and fans from now on, and of course have the survival of the club going top of the agenda and no more sneaky money thieving.
Think a new manager may just be needed too!
Offline
Is this not just the latest wheeze to con fans into buying season tickets. Steven has now gone so give the new guy a chance etc. All my goodwill has evaporated so giving the "new guy" a chance is not for me. He has to show that he deserves his chance.

I would ask him.
Why didn't you purchase Justine Mitchell's shares the minute she resigned from the DUFC BoD.?
Why didn't you dip into your pension pot and pay 1 million to become DUFC's majority shareholder (instead of purchasing Gussie Park)?
Why did you want to become part of a bid to purchase the Newcastle Jets whilst still tied with DUFC.? And if your bid was successful did you plan to emigrate with Stephen Thompson?
What is the purpose of ThomMar Ltd/Utd Fc Group?
Is the rumoured attempt to start a US Soccer team between you and Stephen Thompson true? And if so why? Does it involve DUFC in some way? Do you still have plans on emigrating in the longterm?
What made you become involved in DUFC to begin with?
Why have you decided to become DUFC Chairman?
What are your immediate plans arrest the clubs terrible slide?

The back of him.
7 years he has been a board member. He has been a helping hand to thompson and needs to go also.

I think if he is serious about winning the fans over he ends all business links with our previous regime. This means winding up thommar
He states he will stop with the pipe dreams of foreign link ups in football backwaters (but amazing holiday destinations)
He answers the questions sent today him by the fan groups the day prior to ST jumping ship
He removes the name of ET from that stand - in all seriousness the man was a 6 year blip in our history and his name shouldn’t be emblazoned on where our core support sit
What is his plan going forward?
What identity are we forging as a club - playing and off the park
What will he do to re- establish our youth set up from the disastrous nick it’s in
What assurances do we have over Tannadice
What are his views on all this merger chat
And that’s just for starters
If he can’t answer these honestly and to the satisfaction of the support / fans group then he is most likely, not the man for the job

What will he do to attract new investment into the club, not security or loans, but hard cash put into the club, to be used by the club?

I know nothing of the boy except what I read on Twitter and forums, in the meantime I am prepared to see what he has to say on what his plans are to get us moving again.
He is a few years older than the snake so possibly he was a associate of his father and he possibly thinks he is just a fucking idiot who needs ousted.
If all the rumours regarding his sister falling out with the snake about he was running the club I really cannot see her selling her stake to someone with the same motives as her brother (strip the club of its assets, what are they now exactly?)
The only two outcomes he can have I see it as is
1, saving United
2, merger.

Keyes Capital who I believe own Dundee, and the land for the "Samba Arena" are based in Austin Texas, where funnily enough, from what I can find don't have a major league soccer team, do we know anyone who might be interested in starting a new team?
Could it be possible, they have a "cunning plan"
probably nothing but

Exactly !
A lot of questions being asked in other posts - he’s been a Director since 2011 and a guilty of the current mess as much as Steven and any director in there.
We’ve seen more than enough of their 5 year plan and know the answers already. Oot and join ST.

You may well be right Tek but as I said my goodwill has gone. As far as I’m concerned the ball is in the new chairman’s court and he is the one who will have to win folk like me over with actions not words and if folk from Tannadice read this forum they’ll have a good idea of what required.

Agree with your comments Tek but I am saying what I want from him, just to go, he’s part of where we are and not going to reverse the slide, it’s an old saying - Leopards don’t change their spots.....
I fear more trouble ahead for us with MM in charge supported by ST shareholding.

I'd want to see honesty and openness from any chairman.
Long term plans must be outlined and related to the supporters.
I'd like a chairman who concentrates on the club: anything else has a derogatory effect on United, so no shit about running foreign football teams.
The football staff requires a complete change, for Mike Martin to state that it is 'clear that Dundee United benefits from an excellent staff' is absolute bullshit on the football side. For an initial statement from his elevated position, that was a very poor start. I want to see Mr Martin make changes to the football management of the club.
Rather than appoint 'cheap', appoint the best we can find and afford. Mike Martin has been part of the board who messed up with the last (insert a number) managerial appointments, he has to redeem himself now.
As things stand, this 'change' presently doesn't alter my negative view of the board in any way.

Martin is ST's business partner and has been the brains behind the fucking shambles the club has become over the last few years.

My fear with ST's departure and MM's apointment is that its just a ploy to get season ticket holding fans past and present onside to renew again, with the momentium picking up with fans puting their money into the federation (as i personally have) and wide talks of not renewing forcing Thompson out early. Then, with ST gone (ish), fans u turn and decide to renew and then that money is then filtered out to fund the Thommar venture in the US. Judging MM on his own merit, giving him a chance is absolutly not sitting well with me, as im positive his statment on Monday will just be more smoke and mirrors bullshit. This is just my opinion and fear.

I'd like to know his plans for the development team. Now that ST is gone is there any chance of getting Stevie Campbell back or Cathro? Doubt it but no harm in trying
