Dreadful decision, if it happens.
Recipient of £1.7m worth of EBT payments from the huns - so the SFA have appointed a tax dodger who has previously walked out of the job.
One more reason not to give a fuck about the national side...

What a lazy appointment. He's done nothing since winning the league cup with Birmingham then relegating them. SFA are as big a shambles as us right now.

Nothing new is it? Old boys club. Listening to Talksport today and McOist going on about "Alex" as a safe pair of hands etc etc. Fucking shite!!!! This Largs boys club, funny handshake, mate of a mate garbage is what's killing the Scottish game. Cathro could've been a huge success but ran out of town by the same shit. Anecdote, freeloading fat ex-players and managers having "respected" opinions doesn't help. Zero forward thinking individuals are involved in the whole SFA set up. As I said in a previous post, McLeish's comment of "I've been keeping up with modern fitba so know some stuff(something like that)" is a minter. Another 4-5 years of mediocrity beckons.

I think the reaction to McLeish being appointed is a bit over the top tbh. He had a great win ratio last time and deserves a fair crack at the whip before everyone writes him off.
p.s. I wanted Cathro to be a big success but truth is he brought his failure at Hearts on himself. Seemed a very narrow-minded individual bordering on extreme arrogance.

Leaving aside McLeish's part in tax dodging, which should have been more than enough to preclude him, the 'record' talked of in the press included two wins over the Faroese, and one over Lithuania. Plus two friendly victories.
The away win to France, great as it was, is negated by the defeat to Georgia, who played a wee teenage boy in goal.
It's another step back to failure for the SFA.

Pat we have always played against minnows and friendlies.
Bit churlish to take that away from him.
You can only beat who is put infront of you afterall. And a 70% win rate is very good at any level.

It’s a lazy appointment, particularly when it took so long. However the reaction is OTT, it could have been worse. He’s not a bad manager and I get the feeling the SFA are skint and not paying him very much.

Fair summary.

I like the idea of McFadden being part of the coaching team. Listened to the radio last week not knowing who was talking about what the Scottish game needs and was quite surprised to hear it was him that had been talking 20 minutes after being really impressed.
Obviously might come across as a popularity boost for the bad feeling associated with McLeish a lot have for him doing a bolt to Birmingham.

His recent managerial record isn't great though that's what puts me off.
Also the SFA can't be that skint considering how much they were offering O'Neill?

Cheap option.
Is ST on the selection panel?

He's probably no very cheap Beardy.

OK Tek. Should our money as fans be used to employ a tax cheat, and a football cheat, to manage the national team? While we are also employing a racist as Performance Director.
I wonder who will get the job as SFA Chief Executive? Bible John?
And it won't matter to the SFA if he's deid, as we all know.

See tbh Pat, i'm sick of the bitterness that permeates every aspect of Scottish football these days.
I would quite like to just get back to supporting Utd and Scotland and hoping both win once in awhile and give me some happy memories along the way.
I would very much like the chance for my Son to be able to experience what we all took for granted growing up i.e. seeing his country compete in a major tournament. And i would like to see that with him.
Ebt's might have been morally wrong (though legally they are not) but that doesn't detract from McLeish's capacity for being able to do the job he has been employed to do.
IMO.

We could agree to differ, but mostly we don't have to - I agree with your first three paragraphs, although we might have variance on the reason for the bitterness you mention in your first section.
However, the EBT method utilised by the Ibrox club has been ruled illegal by the highest court in the land, while over and above this the dead club played for many seasons with improperly registered players, knowingly cheating the rest of Scottish football. McLeish was part of that cheating.

Never keen on calling for a sacking, 1st game and time to recover but get that cnt tae fuck NOW!
Half time was his chance. Fuckall changed. His old success is based on old style stuff that's stubborn. Out of date formulas. He didn't motivate or switch tactics in his usual style.
Post match gibberings confirm he needs punted right fucking now.

Wanted him to do well.
BUT
Hard to see how he can survive that result today (Scotland's worst ever?).
Think the axe will fall on him after Sunday against San Marino regardless of the result.

I hope so. What a minter that result is. Be interesting listening to Ally on talksport today—“safe pair of hands”. Goooood ane. About as safe as Edward Scissorhands.

Should never have been given the job, has none of the qualities which should be part of the make up of an international manager, leaving aside his history, tax issues and illness.
However, the SFA might as well keep him on, as they have zero ability to replace him with a competent manager.
IF they are considering change, their short list will be Wee Barry, Cheeky Chappie Ally, or Racist Malky.
But the change needed is within the SFA itself.
