Just been on Skyhigh Sports that Stuart McCall has resigned.

He done a brilliant job there on a very small budget.
Great signings fae England who inspired them to back to back runners-up spots.
If Jackie ever departs Tannadice for bigger things i would be quite happy with him as our Gaffer tbh.

His finishes...
2013-2014 - 2nd
2012-2013 - 2nd
2011-2012 - 3rd
2010-2011 - 6th
Very impressive.

no sure tek...first sign of hard times and he bails out...

That 6th placed finish was also due to him resting players for the cup final, I think they lost all five post split games .
Very impressive with a budget which would be 9th highest at best in the league.
As far as Huns go he's a decent one.

Mate they're utterly skint.
Despite finishing 2nd twice in a row the 'Well society are begging their fans to donate financially to the club (admin maybe on the horizon?).
He's probbaly been told that he cannae sign any new players in january and knows they will struggle this season.
Getting out now before his reputation is destroyed like Butcher's.
Cannae blame him tbh K.

He's a good guy, who's done a very good job there.
Maybe been, publically, allowed to resign, rather than having a sacking in his cv?

yeah i suppose, heard yesterday they're struggling again..

agree with tek would take mccall in a second if jackie ever left, fantastic job at motherwell on very small budget and very good eye for a bargain in transfer market and also a very decent guy
Offline
I'd take him, can see him getting the Rangers job.

Heard that they have taken out a "soft" loan to pay wages. Cash flow doesn't sound good.

I hope he goes to another team or back down south, he would make The Rangers a decent team at a fraction of the money that Sally has spunked up against the wall. I also sort of like him, not just because our recent record against them is good but he seems like a decent bloke, especially for an ex player of the Rangers old club. Unfortunetly once they walk up the marble staircase, they revert to type buy a pin stripe suit and a pair of brown brogues.
Do feel sympathy for him, one of the few managers who didnt try and do hatchet jobs on our players last season and also tried to play football.

And paid the price.

He resigned so I'll keep my sympathy until he's been unemployed a while through integrity.
But if he was to team up with Warnock again on better terms and conditions?

Fair point bugs - watch this space.

Stuart McCall would maybe be a good choice for the Scotland under 21 job and likewise Billy Stark would be a good choice for the Motherwell job but both most likely to feature next in the BBC studio at Hampden on the 1st of February

I listened to a long interview with McCall when driving home last night, reiterated what I've always thought - that he's a genuine good guy who stepped aside as he thought the team needed a fresh voice, a new leader.
He said the fear of losing to United then going on an international break was what swung it, he didn't feel that would be fair to Motherwell, he hopes the new voice can steer them to a win on Friday then they go into the break on a positive and the new man has time to stamp his own authority on the team.
I suppose it's easy to resign when you've probably got a rake of cash in the bank and he did acknowledge that he's been offered a gig at Crystal Palace but he's only concentrating on Scotland now.
I don't think he can do both the U21's and remain coach of the full side so don't expect him to go for Starks job, said he loves working with Strachan.
