I mean, its no gonna be cheap. To start up, from scratch, a professional Football Club, have a Football Ground/Stadium with all the necessary facilities, and recruit your playing staff, management, backroom staff, recruit your supporters, and then to be able to fund their salaries and the running costs. The task and the cost is enormous, probably in the 10s of millions of Dollars. I mean WTF. Where the phuck is all the money coming from?
Messrs Goodwillie, Allan, Russell, Gauld, Robertson, Armstrong, Mackay-Steven, Ciftci, Souttar and McGowan.

Their new fans will be some pissed off if we send over the whole current team in exchange !

Surley easy enough for ST to rubbish reports if they are rubbish, especially at a time he's looking to step down to take the distraction away from him that hours later is building up around him in an even more distractive way.
ST, "The most important factor right now is that Dundee United focus on winning games and securing a place back in the Premiership - without distraction about my position."

Don't see what everybody is getting their knickers in a twist for tbh.
The vast majority on here have said they don't want him running the club - he has stepped down. Yes, he hasn't sold his shares but the further away from tannadice the better?
I honestly don't care what he does when he's not here. He's not been filtering money towards the project and lets face it - with 7 new signings, he's certainly been backing the manager in the transfer window - presumably shabba got to spend his budget as he pleases....

Punders are giving me a wedgie on this because he's not gone.
Backing the manager is debatable as numbers signed don't perhaps add up to giving the budget required to bring in the right players.
What money he's doing whatever with is unknown.
You don't care what he he does when he's not here? He wasn't here when he sold Armstrong and GMS to our cup final opponants and until he sells his shares he can fuck up from any corner of the fuckin globe mate.

haha when he's not here - when he is no longer taking a wage from the club. Sure you knew what i meant.
Some folk (not saying you) will be slavering at the mere mention of his name in 20 years time...i can't be arsed with that.

Honestly that post is unbelievable. You think cos hes stepping down as chairman in 4 months that he wont still be running the club? He'll still be the largest shareholder. Until he sells the shates he's still involved.

If ST and MM want to go an start a new club then that us their prerogative, I just don't see how they want to involve United in any project. For a start it would take years to get a new club up and running, secondly they are on about going into a new 3rd tier which has no guarantee of being sustainable and what advantage would United get out of it anyway even if it was all set up well and sustainable.
If that is what they want to do then sever all ties with United and go and do what you like!

We all want the same thing. I'm willing to accept this as stage 1 of operation gtf. Will he still have influence. Of course but if his time is being spent on other projects then he will have less time to worry about us.
The equivalent scenario is you leaving your job and your current employer frothing at the mouth about where you moved to.

I don’t know if you’re deliberately obtuse or not.
I get the feeling you would argue that you don’t know for certain you would go down the way if you fell out a window until you actually do it.
That is not the equivalent scenario. Equivalent would be you agreeing to resign from your job before you are fired but then offering your gaffer a direct replacement who happens to be your mate, who was onboard with all your shit decisions that led to you having to resign in the first place.
Say it out loud and see how ridiculous it sounds - we are looking to forge player links with a team that doesn’t exist in the third tier (which also doesn’t exist) of an emerging football nation. This has all the hallmarks of a snake oil salesman.

Obtuse or refuse to be raging about absolutely everything?
I want ST gone. I don't believe there's a way back for the relationship between ST and the fans.
If ST is no longer on the payroll, I don't care what he does in his spare time. For all I care, he could build a monorail between neros and the arch and drive people between the 2.
The club doesn't have any spare cash to be used to set up the other mystery club. So he's not filtering cash. So realistically, there are very little, if any, resources of the club's being used for this venture.
As for mm - I can't see it taking a lot of effort on his part....Will it?
Genuinely - explain to me why I should be upset by this. (Likewise, I'm not currently happy about it - just non-plussed)

United need strong leadership at this time just like they needed strong leadership when ST was messing about with his Jets project leaving clueless Jackie to run the club down. ST has never provided strong leadership but going awol with another clueless numptie left behind doesn’t bear thing about

What it does is takes the Chairmans attention away from his main priority so he can chase a dream. By dream I mean his latest hair brain scheme that probably never crossed his mind before the reality sunk in that his days at United are numbered.
We are up the creek without a paddle and yet again, our 'leader' is away fannying about in America looking for another job.
That's what's not to like about the situation. The guy doesn't give a shit about anything but himself and he couldn't make it any clearer if he tried.

The boys above have highlighted basic points as to why it’s not a good thing or any sort of progress.
They were already addressed by B&T in his initial response.
The best counter you have brought to the discussion is that we are permanently raging or have our knickers in a twist.
You are either on the wind up, dense or being deliberately obtuse.
A lot of your posts are deliberately contradictory, go against sensible assumptions and come across as a bit attention seeking.
I’ll return to being permanently raging now and you can go back to being the only calm, measured poster on the forum.
