Were Lyng and King on the wing.

It wasn't great. I didn't think the pitch, at any point in time, was playable.
Really Pat? I thought it was perfectly playable. Well maybe not perfect but definitely ok.

A boy said to me today that folk under 30 would be used to playing on that type of surface: older folk would see it as unplayable.
But I reckon you are 'older', so maybe that's not a true scenario.

Sorry Billy nope, We dont play wingers (all midfielders who pass to each other or the opposition and seldom the lone forward) and its a waste of time signing a target man when we are not going to give him any service. The few passes to him were made to his feet when he had a defender on him and his only option was to pass it back. Think Dracula likes crosses far more than we do

As an older type I remember some pretty fucking awful grass pitches this time of year - along with compliant local refs who wouldn't call a game off if the pitch was covered in body parts...
all part of the 'charm' of the cup

How awful was that. I have now written of Csaba as another Jackie or Ray as he plays the same brand of unattractive and non attacking football as they did. My guess is that that he will be as unsuccessful as they were too and I don't see us winning as Champions and we wont win any big games that matter playing this drivel. Goodness knows why he wanted a target man as his game plan was exactly the same as without one and I don't think it matters whether we sign anyone else in the window if we are going to stick with this turgid way of playing.
What I hate most is making 8 or 9 go nowhere passes then give the ball away without going anywhere near the opposition box (which should be the aim when we have possession), then doing the same again and again and again. Virtually every free kick was taken short - why given the inability to produce an attack. Alloa dont have a strong team, why didnt we have a go and score 6. Why didnt we have a go against Dunfermline or St Mirren. If we are prepared to accept this mediocrity, then, we give up any hope of ever getting back upstairs and the Fun will end up being the big team in the city for a long time to come.
Perhaps I should just come off the fence and say what I really think

Cheers annan. Was asking a serious question when I posted but wasna until I read it back that I realised I had injected a bit of amateur poetry (King Wing etc). Must be all these damn drugs I'm on ATM for this food poisoning.

2nd goal was a good direct fast play from back to front. On Azone now.
Csaba saying in his interview he hates the passing back Annan.
Edit to say - Annanarab, totally get yer point(s) and agree in general. Casba has taken on a lot of Lauri Ellis's initial lowdown on what's what and I think decided not to go for a complete overhaul on tactics but tweak to best effect what he can achieve 1st & has a very low budget to work with too.
Glad to hear what he said fae 5 mins to 5 mins 45 seconds on his interview bud and gives me hope. Ken words are just words.

"I think it's also important for us in the future that we have in the midfield what also in this case more precence.I miss that we move the ball not so quick in the front half, how quick is necessary & especially if you are in the ball position & you want to control the opponent with the ball you have to search for more pass in the deep and you have to turn not always BACKPASS not ALWAYS BACKPASS, to be honest I HATE BACKPASSES you know I HATE BACKPASSES so you know if it's necessary OK YOU HAVE TO TURN YOU HAVE TRY TO PLAY IN THE FRONT because if you can take 2 or 3 players out from opponent midfield IMMEDIATELY you have different chances."

Suggest Csaba fines players £50 for every unnecessary back or side pass and United will soon have enough dosh to buy Lionel Messi.
Possibly more worrying for me if he knows what is wrong and isn't doing anything to sort it. Do none of these guys watch Match of the Day - wingers, crosses, taking defender on, long searching balls (not passes) out of defence, shots from outside the box, the high press etc - we dont do any of that

I don't disagree bud. Disappointing bad habits are still there.
He seemed to speed up speed of play initially and get a better reaction. I think fans are less patient after giving a rally of failures a break and a bit mair patience in hope and there's a risk that being at the end of oor tether we loose the plot early on.
I don't have a scooby how he will pan oot but he seems to be thinking what's wrong with us in a short period matches up to reality and what a lot of fans think. If we'd had mair money and less injuries he'd maybe do better and be better thought of.
Too early to write him off.

Think he's had terrible luck losing our best 2 players for what's likely to be the season. He's then had to try to replace them instead of strengthening in other positions. I think given time he'll do well.

1st half was terrible; they missed two sitters, the one in the first minute or so was particularly bad.
Much better 2nd half, much more aggressive, positive and closing them down.
The boy Kadded looks good.
