Presenting Stanton and Quinn as new signing is a total cop out, and is a cheap tactic I've noticed United using for a while now. I'm happy Stanton's signed permanently, but he and Quinn have played all season for us, so them extending their deals doesn't really add anything new to the team that we haven't already had this year.
Making out to the fans that we've signed 6 new players this window is a sneaky, tacky move on the club's part.

JerryDungle, the fans generally aren't daft: only if they are will they think of Quinn and Stanton as new players.
I don't think the club deserves a slating for this, but they do for several other aspects of their operations.

It just strikes me as a very slimy move to make out that 2 players you've had for the past 6 months are new signings. I've never seen any other club do this.
When everything goes tits up again, and Mr. A is once again under the microscope, there are the gullible few who will go around parroting United's line about him backing the manager by signing 6 players in January. We haven't. We've signed 4; 3 loans, and a 6-month contract.
By all means, announce them extending their stay. In Stanton's case, I'm reasonably happy he's with us for the forseeable, but don't come out with spin like "Thomas becomes United's sixth signing of the January transfer window" it just comes across as Mr. A and his stooge Rice trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes again.

If that's what keeps you up at night mate then fair enough. But I think we have bigger things to worry about.

Seriously don’t understand all the hate for mikelsen, I thought he was really decent for us
When Mikelson played with us we ended up playing route one at a very poor standard, he dives and gets booked a lot and his goal return wasn't great, from memory.
Annanarab will be creaming himself at the thought of us going long to two giants all the time instead of all of the sideways go-nowhere passing at present.
I will be creaming myself (whatever that means) if we get the ball out wide and cross it our new man. And for the avoidance of doubt I much rather see hoof ball than the sideways and backwards stuff

I’m fucking not impressed with Laszlo in the slightest - shite window with shite signings.
Lyng is gash, Mason is gash mikkelsen will be poor. Resigned Quinn. Signed 2 young French boys that look about 10 and won’t play for the first team at all.
This after losing our 2 best central midfielders, having no right back and needing another striker all season - wtf are we doing

Your wrong as by signing Stanton on permanent allowed the club to get another loan from a Scottish team
Online!

Haha that's why I love united forums.
2 players who between them have played less than 3 games - stuck on as being awful and my favourite - a lad who hasn't played a minute of football for us since his return will be poor.
Jason Scotland was honking when he first came. As was jon daly (to quote 1 arab from many moons ago)-my mate thinks yer shite but ah think yer ok' - words which im sure warmed the cockles of daly and his parents .
Imo a couple of folk here just want to be pissed off with United and they won't let anything get in their way

Still think we need a real ball winner in midfield.

Regarding the slating of players, are United fans any worse than supporters from other clubs?
I'm wondering if players are so precious these days that, reading stuff on forums and Twitter (
) which fans write about them, they don't perform as expected. On another forum (East?) they are questioning why good players fail at United. Are our fans too hard and dismissive of many players?
Thinking our support will be no different from other groups of fans, it shouldn't have a negative effect: but does it?

me too but kille mate says we already got one on loan in jan so maybe he will be a bit like fyvie?
I dont think so, he lined up beside Flood in his first game who on his day, is supposed to be a ball winner so wouldnt think the manager would play two defensive minded CM's in same lineup. If so, fact we conceded 6...
Wont judge too early though on Slater, still hopeful. Think Fyvie was also positionally sound and offered real protection for back 4, bit different than out and out ball winner.

We can haha all we want.
End of the day, I don’t think our painfully obvious issues have been addressed.
Our dominant cm and our creative force both got injured. Our rb issue still isn’t addressed but we have 2 CDM’s and one Ch to play there and our saviour is a striker we had before that spent half his time on his arse.
We’ll see at the end of the season and I’m sure if you want you can dig out this post and point out I was wrong.
Maybe it’s not a case of not giving United a chance and maybe they have let us down once too often.

I agree, could it be the return of the man who punched Zaluskas puss?
He's a ball winner and could surely do a job in this division.

I never rated him, got into heated discussions with offshore about him for about 2 years (all in good taste) and I fucking hate that DM "quaterback" role because makes for passengers if they're not actually offering protection for back 4.
All that aside, I'd be happy to see him come back. Exactly what we need really.

I've not got a problem if it's just one DM and he's plugging a gap if your left or right back pushes up and you get caught out. When we had two just standing there taking 5 yard passes from centre halfs it did my tits in.

Confirmed we've signed the 2nd French player. Club not saying an awful lot with the exception that he's an "amateur striker" ?
On the bench today it says so you never know he might see some action sooner rather than later
Online!

Thought the young lad looked good. Strong, nice touch and a rocket of the crossbar

Pleasantly surprised with his cameo today. Has a bit of size about him, some nice touches. Great hit off the bar. Interesting one...

Dundee United today announced the signing of amateur striker Idris Kadded until the end of the season.
At a (wild) guess, I'm thinking he's been signed on amateur forms to avoid us being liable for a transfer fee to the last club which registered him. He provided a bit of excitement today, late on, in a drab match.
I'D RISK ADDED expenditure to see this boy again.
