Mostly marketing based... interesting way to waste 5 mins

The target audience for the article wouldn't be the common man in the street, for example I had to look up 'USP', but interesting enough.
Disagree with a few points, for example Joe appears to believe United are doing well in their fan engagement endeavours, while many must think the club is quite aloof from the support. Not that I entirely blame the club for this, as United have too many supporters' groups and factions (imo).
Also, his argument that £20 is a fair price for the football, as people will pay £20-30 for a food takeaway or £70-100 for a concert is poor. Firstly, it isn't comparing like for like, secondly £70-100 would be to watch a top line act (which Dundee United is not), plus you'd have to be a fat bastard to eat a £20-30 food carry out all by yourself. Finally, and obviously, you are many times more likely to enjoy the carry out or concert than the football, which often you are forced to watch in cold conditions sitting on a plastic seat, and a referee is unlikely to spoil a concert.
But overall, an interesting article and deflection from our issues on the park presently.
Online!
The reason given for no Development Team updates online is poor i.e. a 'resource issue'. And the quip that there are 'other things to prioritise' just makes it seem like he thinks the supporters comments on this issue are trivial.
I see many other clubs who give Development league updates who are small fry in comparison to Utd in terms of infrastucture/budgets etc (Morton to name one).
He said himself we put all Development highlights on arabzone. How difficult is it to give one other trusted Utd employee the Twitter password and let them give basic updates i.e. the team lines, goals, subs etc?
Wee things like that about Utd annoy me. Such wee easy issues to fix yet we make it seem like a real obstacle.

I wonder if anyone saw that, in the six minutes before the edit?

Read the interview and it seems like anything media related at United is the Joe Rice show. Speaking as an IT professional, our media and communications is fucking horrendous.

Agree, with above. They have 3/4 staff who run Comms, Dundee have 1.
They better hope Thompson doesn’t suss that.

Credit where it's due, there's is better than ours, mate is unfortunately a dee, said their media team share all first team, development team and youth team updates, news, interviews etc so fans know what it going on through the entire club, Our media team can't sort out the sound on their interviews, updates are terrible and the media/comms side of things look cheap. There are many talented developers/web & graphic designers and coders in Dundee who could do a much better job.

No buying that re the development games.
Surely the person videoing tbem for the highlights can do the live updates?

Getting in free to Dev. games isn’t appealing to them though
