I would say absolutely essential that we still sign an out and out Centre Forward as we only have McDonald and Lyng (who for all intents and purposes seems to be more a winger). And unfortunately when Keatings has been fit (which is rarely) he has been largely anonymous.
We have shipped out N'Koyi and Piggot so we really are down to the bare bones in this department i feel.
What else do we need?
Left winger ? The boy Scott Wright at Aberdeen ain't getting a look in.Worth trying to get on loan?
We need someone who can make something out of nothing. Not asking for Messi or Ronaldo, just someone who's better than this league.
The guy Wright could be good, he seems to have scored anytime he's been given a chance in the Prem

There is bound to be players who are not getting any game time in the Premier that we should be looking at for a loan or two?

I think it's been mentioned before that there is a limit on players over 21 so we could only really bring in a youngster in that case.
I reckon the priority and sole aim at this stage has to be a Target Man Striker. Get this sorted and then maybe look at a creative CM.
Maybe I'm being a bit optimistic, but I think once Slater/Lyng are up to match fitness and Murdoch's back then we should have sufficient cover everywhere else.

Not sure if aberdeen would be keen on one of their players coming here again. Think they were dissapointed the way it worked out with cammy smith.

I think another 3.
Striker winger rught back
We wont get another 3 i doubt.

I'll be disappointed if we don't have a striker in by Saturday: after that there's only one league game left before the window closes, and that, to me, is dragging our feet on the most obvious gap in our line up.
So I'll probably be disappointed.

He moved quickly.to get the first 3 in which makes me think anymore will be from mid nextweek onwards..
Theres no been any runoured players ekther has there?

A right back, (why we brought in another left back remains baffling, the boy looked like he'd never been asked to overlap in his life, had no pace/recovery whatsoever hence why we got caught in the second half when he'd obviously been told to overlap at half time, and couldn't get back when things broke down, for all the stick Robson gets he's been our main attacking outlet for weeks and gets up and down the line)
Another striker (I'd like one with real pace over the top, particularly for away games, we had zero mobility or pace in the forward areas on Saturday either in an attacking sense or even for someone to just harry and close down defenders),
A number 10 (unless McDonald plays there along with either Lyng or a pacy striker).

conceded 6 on Saturday, looked weak against St. Mirren. Not as fussed about bringing a striker in as I am finding a plausible replacement for Fyvie.

Slater is Fyvie's replacement.

We’ve used wages on a replacement fir Fyvie , and eh hope wi minutes Slater will come good cause he certainly wasni on Saturday.
We need to find somebody to now replace Scott Fraser, withoot him we’ve hud naybdy ti link the midfield to the attack like he did and that’s a vital pert oh how Csaba wants to play, eh dina think we’ll get sumbdy wi equal ability but a natural #10 in this 4-2-3-1 is important. McDonald Keatings or Stanton no the answer.

I'm hoping for a striker (and a Trialist played up front for the U20s today) as an outlet for our defenders. Teams see we are fannying around at the back, and simply harry us until Quinn gets the ball, then let him pass it to them.
Any long ball out the defence is presently coming back at us too quickly.
All in my view, of course.

Slater is Fyvie's replacement.
A little confused then. Why is he playing w/ Flood? Flood was sitting in that holding role vs St. Mirren, so deep hes on top of the center halves, gives them nay protection either. I saw Slater as replacement for Stanton with Stanton being pushed forward to Frasers role.
If we sign someone to replace Fraser, will Stanton drop to partner with Slater... so Slater would be filling the holding role?

Simple really, slater replaces fyvie, stanton replaces fraser

All in your view Pat,but spot on .I see it exactly as you do every time the ball goes to Quinn I can't watch

We still need a right back, right midfielder, a bit of class in the middle of the park and incredibly still only have one Striker at the club (that lad that played last week ain't the answer).
The sad thing about last week was the excitement amount some fans about the bang average at best players that signed up last week which Further confirm the quite unbelievable depth to which our once proud club has fallen.
I still hope we could maybe entice a bit of quality who could galvanise us in particular in the middle of the park but like my hopes that we could get promoted and stop this slide unfortunately it's fading by the week.

apologies for this response as im starting to bore myself. Utd need some muscle in the team. Players who like a tackle. Watching Hamilton and RC barny there and thinking there is absolutely no way our current team would be involved in anything like that. 5 fu****g fouls in a match where we were getting a run around. You cant coach a player to show a bit of fighting spirit.

That doesnt work. if its Flood and another holding player... Fuck Stanton replacing Fraser, get him back alongside Slater, Stanton gives you something going forward from a more advanced central position, Flood gives you fuck all. Not to mention Stanton half the player of Fraser in that attacking midfield role.
Problems will stem from those 3 positions if we dont address them properly. Toothless as is.

A few good points there but what I would say is hat you can I still confidence in your starting eleven and if we are being honest we never looked comfortable or sure of what the game plan was. We have an obsession with not gambling eg taking a man on or trying to shoot from distance instead we play the ball along our backline pretending that we are something special.

Took us ages to get rid of Donaldson and then we sign Quinn !!! Twice!!!! He's only happy passing the ball back to the goalie or shouting at a team mate to pass it back !! And as decent a shot stopper Lewis is - his distribution is poor - a hopeful punt up the right is his preferred out ball.

Other than 2 ish performances Quinn has driven me nuts.
Don't think Lewis is doing what he wants though, mair what he's told. If it's no a short ball oot it's up the right, right enough.
Playing ot out fae the back has been a cunt of a thing to watch but better under Csaba as mair make themselves available and don't hide. Different when Quinn has the ba. Players don't seem to trust him.
I'd like to see us mix up the tactics more. Teams ken how to play against us, especially when we get a bit nervous.

The answer to the OP though is as many as we can fkn get.
Refs hav'nt given us much or much protection in this league and we are fairly likely to have further injuries.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the poor standard of the officials and there reluctance to punish excessive fouling against us has contributed to our injury problems this season as there getting lumps kicked out them in this league, and there not the hardiest bunch. On topic though would still like too see a big broad center forward in as I don't think Lyng is it, but by all means prove me wrong.

Agreeing with the posts above: in the last game v Dunfermline, their players realised in the second half that ref Anderson wasn't being quite as strict as we'd perhaps hope, and proceeded to kick us off the park.
Some blatant challenges weren't even penalised, yet they still committed over twice the fouls United did (although the booking tally didn't reflect this).
They'll be over-physical again tomorrow, because it brought them closer to us the last game.
Generally, we are softer than other sides, but it doesn't help when the rules aren't applied properly, or fairly. In the few games Jordie Briels played, if he showed his physical side he was a near certainty to pick up a booking.
