Yemen

Watching in the news about the Civil War that has all but obliterated the country.

Absolutely horrifying.

One of the worst instances of human suffering I have ever witnessed.

Re: Yemen

And what is the U.N. doing about it - phuck all.

Well you could argue that it allows 1 of it's member states, the Saudis, to carry out the bombing, and that it allows 2 of it's member states to sell billions of pounds worth of weapons to them so they can do the bombing. (that's the U.K. and the U.S. in case anybody's no sure). Good for the Britsh coffers.

Re: Yemen

Horrendous what's going on over there.  Equally as horrendous the lack of international intervention.  Even more horrendous is the US and UK's part in it.

Re: Yemen

Cannae expect the UK to fall out with Saudi Arabia, when there are over 6000 UK firms exporting to that country, and have billions of pounds invested in the future of the Sunni 'kingdom'

Further, the first half of this year the Saudis have given British firms £1.1 billion for weapons.

Mind you, that cash is mostly being accrued by these firms, rather than the public purse. We've let ourselves become dependent on nations like Saudi Arabia, and that's without mentioning the oil.

No time soon will the UK, or the US for that matter, be putting pressure on the Saudis to stop atrocities.

Of course they won't, the rich getting richer is far more important than foreign lives.
