Takeover on the cards?

Said to a few in the troll on saturday that Michael Martin bought over Justine's shares at the club and that would only signal that there is something positive happening down the line, as why would you buy shares in a failing business if there wasn't investment/takeover coming?

Then there is a mention in a few of the papers that Alastair Borthwick and an American investor are looking to buy the club from ST.

Takeover is needed badly, not only to provide much needed investment in the club, but also to bring the good feeling back to the club as with ST in charge its toxic.

Hoping ST sees some sense for once and sells circa £1.25-£1.5 million as the money he was asking for was nonsense for a championship club.

Re: Takeover on the cards?

Where are you seeing talk of Borthwick and an American investor?

Hopefully it's true though.

Re: Takeover on the cards?

Mentions a reshuffle in the boardroom rather than a takeover.

Sounds like equity for cash - if it comes to fruition will be interesting to know what's in it for the Americans

Could be a be careful what you wish for moment

Re: Takeover on the cards?

Is that the same Tam Duthie who was just last week saying Utd supporters should show 'patience' in Ray McKinnon whilst using a number of puns relating to a Gary Barlow concert in Dundee?

An awful 'journalist'.

Would never dream of asking a loaded question of anyone in power at Utd or Dundee.

Would watch both go to the wall and die before he questioned anything, infact.

Re: Takeover on the cards?

DCT used to be completely non-union as well, the journalists couldn't join NUJ for example.

Re: Takeover on the cards?

A prominent Celtic blogger saying that Utd have been bought over by an American company.

Take with a pinch of salt of course.

I'm assuming you mean John James, who claims he's a The Rangers shareholder and past fan of the old club, and that he lives abroad, in fear of his life at the hands of unknown forces.

Given the above, I'd go for the high salt intake option.

Re: Takeover on the cards?

Story I have heard is that the Thompson family is set to sell a chunk of shares but still retain overall majority.
i.e wring as much cash out of the club as possible and drag out the inevitable exit even longer

Re: Takeover on the cards?

Just thought I'd give this a wee bump on the back of Baldymort's recent press conference

"“This club will always be around. There are other things happening right now – Dundee United will be around as a club."

I wonder if these "other things" (whatever they may be) are what sparked the takeover rumours 🤔

Re: Takeover on the cards?

2018 could go down in the annals as a defining year for us.
Hope that's not too vague for half nine on a Friday nite.
