Although rumours around that it would be a deal until end of season so i think that rules anyone currently in work (if true)

Bookies odds are hard to fathom. Favourites usually have some meaning but they play a game to rake in cash fae hope to joke from fans n' rivals fae desperate to having a laugh. Some names taking cash are beyond reality.

Naeb'dy has a clue but only indicator is checking odds so far.

Some of the longer odds have names like McNamara, Keith Millen, Graham Westley, Willo Flood, Mixu, James Fowler, Aitor Karanka, Billy Stark, Gordon Young, McCoist etc.

How folk put money on maist of them is mad.

If they put that polish ref that's going viral just now in the mix I rekon she'd probably be in the 3-5 favourite positions the way betting works...

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

Don't know why Stubbs is one of the bookies favourites, coz he ruled himsell out on Tuesday night, during the Edinburgh Derby on BT Sport. He said "I'm not looking to return to football management ATM."

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

Stubbs said I don't think the job's for me.

Ray hadn't been officially sacked at that time and he may have felt it disrespectful to comment on another mans job.

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

Csaba László now on the list. 16/1.

Someone’s placed a bet on him. Maybe he’s applied.

The tully wrote a non-story about Aitken from Dumbarton going for it, despite having no proof he applied and no proof the club approached him. Good old tully eh?

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

What do you reckon the starting salary is?
Serious question btw.
I think it'll let us know how much cloth we've got to cut.

Hope its low with an almighty bonus for getting us up. I want the new man to be as desperate/determined as the fans to go up. Should dissuade the "I've got my philosophy/principles and I'm no gonna change" brigade (also the need time to gel brigade) and attract guys that are fully confident of their ability to get us up this season and are prepared to go all out to succeed.

Surely the bonus for getting up is keeping his job?

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

I’ve heard it’s the livi manager or John Hughes getting the job, with the latter be being the favourite

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

Todays result should rule out Steve Aitken (if he was actually ever in). Imagine losing to United at home - thats not the sort of guy we need

Hey Dyce, assuming folk from United read these boards, dinnae give them any sort of encouragment!

Hughes would be nearly the worst choice we could make.... in my view, of course.

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

I agree also about John Hughes, hopeless clown of a manager.

whoever takes it on needs the senior players to play for him and command respect.

Re: Who do you want to replace McKinnon?

After so many ex players that didn’t work out as managers I think we should be steering clear of that side of things. Well, that as well as Hughes. Just a clear lack of imagination going down that road.

Had never thought about Laszlo until seeing his name mentioned but we could do worse than him imo

Laszlo recently popped up at 10/1 on McBookie then dropped to 16/1 today. Spence mentioned him yesterday as an " outlier for the post", in his column in the courier if that's anything to go by....

"With American investment being wooed, the right appointment is vital. The usual suspects have been mentioned, but the likes of Csaba Laszlo, formerly of Hearts, could be an outlier for the post."

Read elsewhere that Laszlo's family base has been Edinburgh for the last 7 years after leaving Hearts.

Has a great record on getting teams going when required accross a number of countries but lasts just under a year averaged over 10 jobs, 8 as manager.

Liked him when he was at Hearts. He can be brutal with the truth and some of his quotes are funnily bang on in his way of getting his point accross.

Oor underperformers have heard it fae numerous managers and experienced players. Someone like Laszlo might work better.

I accept we’re not in a position to cherrypick a top candidate but just see Hughes as being a media darling from the 90’s/00’s - complete backward step.

Shabba would be an interesting one.....

Think it’s a bit of a shame Laurie Ellis doesn’t want the job, I would be more than happy to give him next week aswell
