A difficult question i was posed tonight

Would you accept David Goodwillie being inducted into DUFC's 'Hall of Fame' at a later date or is he now 'damaged goods'?

As things stand I think my only comment would be I would really like the case to go to a proper trial so the facts can be known for once and for all and we can all come to some kind of conclusion one way or the other.

He has always protested his innocence afterall and he has never been formally sentenced of the crime. But the verdict from the Judge in the Civil Court really muddy's the waters.

Being part of a 'Hall of Fame' doesn't cut any ice with me. I'm not a fan of stuff that is indefinite.

But if such a vague theatre has to exist, then David Goodwillie can be in it, as the justice system has been vague in his innocence, or guilt, depending on your viewpoint.

Re: A difficult question i was posed tonight

Just my opinion, but if you do have a HOF, then surely it is there for what players did in a United shirt, not anything else.

Would United have went on to win the cup if Goodie hadn't scored that audacious goal?
Who knows but It sure as hell made it a lot easier ( I certainly started to enjoy it a bit more,)  so I personally think him and Craig Conway should be put forward, in time.

I don't know a lot, but I know what I like!

.

It is obviously a money making scheme from the club (but one of their better one's).But it is a good night for our hardcore supporters to pay tribute to players that the wider support all appreciated in their time at Tannadice.

I'll be honest I loved Goodie at Utd.

I'm just not sure where I stand on this one presently, so was interested to hear the perspective of you guys.

Re: A difficult question i was posed tonight

No problem with it at all.

IF he had been found guilty then I'd reconsider, there was no criminal case for a reason so if it went to a proper trial there'd be no chance of him being found guilty.  The whole civil thing is a legal shambles and not just in this case.

Re: A difficult question i was posed tonight

Halls of Fame are with us courtesy of the good ol' US of A so we just got to get on with it.
Maybe with the benefit of hindsight there should have been 3 inductees per season, not 6 or 7, cos we're already beginning to run out of truly deserving candidates. Could have spun it out for another decade or two and so preventing Lee Mair 2022. No personal offence intended Lee.

Get the innocent until proven guilty bit and not sure which I believe either but maybe better not to court controversy including him.

Better maybe even for his sake to stay out the limelight and attention this would bring him.

Re: A difficult question i was posed tonight

I'd have him inducted to our first team right now never mind the hall of fame.

Re: A difficult question i was posed tonight

does DRob get a free pass here?
No a HOF'er, but I'd think there will be events for the 2010 cup squad in the future
