Went to see IT at the pictures.....

Before we went we watched the old version, jeez, it hasn't aged well at all and was a bit meh really, Curry was good as Pennywise though.

I aslo read the book in preparation and it pieced bits of the film together that folk unaware of the story might not know/have picked up on.

Enjoyed the new one, they had to do something different and you're right about how it felt, it had a Goonies/Standy By Me/Strangers Things feel, which isn't a bad thing.

Enjoyed the new pennywise, but felt they underused him. His best scene was the scene he captured georgie at the start. He was captivating when he was talking, they should of had more scenes like that and less jump scare stuff.
Overall I liked it a lot
