Re: Livi away predictions

I think the bookies have got this one wrong - we're 2nd favourites!
6/4 Livi, 8/5 Utd & 9/4 the draw.
If my fiver doesn't earn me £8 then I'm Freddie van der Hoorn

Re: Livi away predictions

If the same United turn up that tore Dunfermline apart we will win this one by a few goals. 3-0 United, McDonald, Keatings and McMullan to score.

Re: Livi away predictions

I think Livi are quite a direct team, and if we can cope with that, not getting caught out of position defensively and doing our jobs, then 2-1 to United.

Re: Livi away predictions

Head thinks 2-2 hope is 1-2 United.

They've only won 2 home games from 8 in all matches this season inc friendlies, cups & league with 3 defeats & 3 draws.

Away form from 11 games is won 6, drawn 2 & lost 3.

Hoping like Dunfermline we play them at a time after they've overachieved and have a bad day.

It was that bad.

I recall a game last season where we we terrible, yet Raymond only made one substitution.

He only made two today. While I doubt his choice of player and tactical awareness would have made much difference, such an abject performance should have led to the removal of another player. It would have been McMullan for Matty Smith, in my view.

But Raymond, even with the players at his disposal (which he has chosen with the help of his director of football) doesn't want to give any younger players a chance.

The first goal was a clear keeper error, the second was a collective effort, but we created very little. We were bullied all over the park, Livingston were sharp and busy, and could control the ball, only Fyvie capable on our side.

Raymond appears not to be up to the task, but the problem for United is twofold.

He and his team would cost a big sum to be told to leave, while the board would be tasked with choosing the next manager. The board has failed in this, as badly as the previous umpteen managers.

In short, we appear to be fucked.

Re: Livi away predictions

By all accounts they got their tactics spot on and pressed us in 2's and 3's all over the pitch. We then resorted to lumping it long even though our strikers are tiny and their back 3 were huge. Once again a team cottoned onto the fact that we try to play out from the back even though our defenders can't pass the ball.

The harsh reality of this league is you need to win virtually every week if you want to win it. You also need almost every player to be at a consistent 8/10 or above every week. Seemingly Flood was excellent against Dunfermline but was utter shite today and flogged their second goal. You really can't have players lurching from one extreme to another week after week. If Flood at 33 doesn't get that now, then he never will and should be punted. Tbh, too many of them are the same and there is clearly no winning mentality at the club.

Too much commotion

I cannae see how Flood can get any sort of blame for their second goal: however, he looked like he couldn't control the ball any time it came to him. And, we cannae just punt players, we're stuck with them. Raymond and the adviser chose them, just as the board chose the management team.

But you are correct about tactics. Livingson had tactics and we didn't.

The players we have are individually better than most in the league (Flood most certainly included), the issue to me (and surely to almost everyone) is the lack of direction from the management team.

Re: Livi away predictions

Make no mistake Livingston are pish.  They played with enthusiasm and effort and that was enough to not only completely nullify us, but we looked like a poorly assembled u10s side who had never played the game before.

That 1st half is the worst attempt at football I have ever seen and it didn't get much better 2nd half.

No pace, no skill, no dig, no invention, no effort, no enthusiasm, no interest, no ability, no 1st touch, no clue, no awareness, just a bunch of absolute shitebags.  Absolute disgrace.

Re: Livi away predictions

I know hindsight is everything but I had a feeling before the game that Ray wouldn't have a proper analysis of the Dunfermline game and would be thinking (like a lot of fans did) that players were starting to gel and onwards and upwards etc. We weren't as good as the result suggested against Dunfermline who were complacent and really fancied their chances against us and left things open at the back which we took advantage of. I wasn't expecting Livingstone to be so cavalier so we needed to be really tight at the back and good at closing them down and taking our chances on the break. Decided not to go so dont know what actually happened but despite fans thinking we have a decent squad and a decent bench (which our losing manager didn't utilise) with the absence of someone with tactical nous leading us, we have a long way to go and may well fall short again this season. Rays now had 71 games and very few of those have been decent performances and decent performances are the things that will being about results in the long term. If Michael O'Neil or Tommy Wright were in charge we'd be cruising this league and if either were in charge last season, we would be up. The player we have are not world beaters but are capable of performing to much higher standards than they are currently achieving.
