Dealing with the facts, yesterday's Round 2 involved 32 teams, last season's Round 3 involved 32 teams.
Esentially, the same stage with a different name, tt.
I think you are here to act the goat.

Let's just sum up the discussion, the ginger cup is garbage and I was there yesterday and we were dire.

1700 attendance says something. Mix off importance and hype(lack off) attached to this Cup plus current feelings on United of the support.
Dees had an attendance of 216? Fair enough that was U20's when oors is 50% U20's.
Hope we can ditch the current feeling and get a good crowd and performace v Dumbarton on Saturday.
Need a good support and impressive performance to bring the fans and team more together and get away fae feeling like Santa's a bastard and stole my xmas type feeling we currently have. Even if justified.
Hard to get yersel up for playing small teams for sure, but this is where we currently are. If we get to later rounds and play well we might play a stronger team and have bigger support.

The Irn Bru Cup is a joke let's be honest.
That said...2 quick points.
1)It's a good exercise for playing our youngsters in the 1st XI and giving fringe men game time (and in different positions).
2)It fills up an otherwise tedious International weekend,i suppose.
The games have no real draw for our support. Most even dinghied The Final last year.
That said if we draw Linfield at Tannadice i will probably make an effort to go.Because of the novelty factor (and hopefully to GIRFUT).

I wasn't at the game so I'm not sure how they played (except DUFC Web site said the 1st 70 mins were uneventful and Ray said they didna get any crosses into the box)). I wouldn't mind the comp if Ray had used it to try out a different approach other than the sterile, oh-so-slow, go nowhere passing/possession game that he's used unsuccessfully for the previous 64 games he's been in charge. A lot has been made that we (apparently) have better players this season, but we're still playing the same flawed, boring, non-attacking system and getting the same flawed boring, non-attacking performances. this was Rays big chance to try out something different. Seems he played his usual guff and relied on 3 hoofs from the back to set up the 3 goals (2 of which were in injury time)

If we get Linfield, I wonder how many of their knuckle dragging brethren from the west of Scotland would rock up to Tannadice for that game.
