Great band in every way, style icons too.
Stevie Marriott was a fantastic singer, and songwriter (with Ronnie Lane). Marriott didn't like being a 'pop star', and eventually this led to his leaving the band to form Humble Pie. Ronnie Lane was really underestimated as a writer, and he wrote a couple of the best Faces songs too.
He went on a tour in a circus tent with his band, with Viv Stanshall as MC.
In a peculiar twist of fate, Stanshall and Marriott died in the same manner, due to smoking in their beds and causing massive house fires.
And final bit of Small Faces trivia: Sha-La-La-La- Lee was written by Kenny Lynch, one of the few black entertainers welcomed onto TV screens in the 'sixties.
