So from reading the account of events on mad....

Boy, who thinks the wagner thing was hilarious (massive damp squib imo and a waste of a few k) was in front of Thompson fannying about with his phone. Presuming as Thompson was behind him he could see exactly what was happening. (I guess it was a wind up video being filmed in ye oldie selfie pose - but that's neither here nor there).

Thompson's puss is tripping him after the defeat and tries to move the camera away/grab it. Boy takes exception and st gets pushed over/falls over.

I guess what some are calling for is for him to be considered not fit to run a football club by the sfa? I think some are trying to manipulate events to meet their agenda tbh.

The account of events is v hazy in areas - like what was actually captured on the video. Police will have seen it and made a decision.... What if the guy was filming his kid or shouting abuse at the family - how would we react?

Objection!

The boy charged will get let off by the Procurator Fiscal.
Thompson will get a telling off from the Police and look even more foolish than usual.
United will continue as normal and Thompson will still own and run the club.

Exactly how it will pan out, just another chapter in the soap opera that is DUFC these days.

Re: Thompson

Sounds like nothing but handbags.  Couldnt give a fuck that the chairman was in a bad mood and pushed someone.  Id hope he wasn't happy.  Whats fucking stupid is that he or someone has got the rozzers involved over a pushing match, drawn more negative attention to the Club and now its all over the fucking papers.  Felt the same way the last time this happened.  People get fucking heated, he's had a minor scuffle, so fucking what.  I hope he's not the one away to the papers like the last fucking time.

See if that's true though, that's the issue with it.  Makes no sense.  You have a little shoving match and fall over, who gives a fuck?!

If he's gone running to the police &/or a journo over that, he wants to have a word with himself.  No need for it whatsoever. Petty as fuck for me.

Exactly, grabs someone from behind for whatever reason???? Then ends up on his arse....having made a tit of himself...last thing he should have done is draw any attention to himself never mind get the boabies involved.

Re: Thompson

See the bit about Thompson running to the press: it doesn't ring true when the journalist has managed to suggest, in his tale, that the bloke who had the fall out with the chairman is a United fan.

Charges were dropped yesterday.......seems not wishing the truth to be aired in court perhaps after all.....

Re: Thompson

ST did not want to press charges at the time but the police did.
Fwiw the alleged 'assailant' is not an Arab.

Not my understanding, ST was the complainant and pursued the police involvement......DCT trying to put a spin on it for ST maybe. ST could have withdrawn at any point.

It’s a pity maybe that having got this far that the full story is not to be aired in court to allow all to hear what really happened that night........there were plenty of witnesses.

Re: Thompson

Stephen Thompson still involved in negative stories and besmirching the public image of the club, is the way I view it.

Re: Thompson

Story stinks a bit.

It suggests ST reluctant to press charges but unless there was a complaint from ST  in the first place, the Police would be unable to charge someone with assault  (step 1 of the manual).

So something else must have happened along the way, either ST wasn't prepared to have his evidence cross-examined in court or the Fiscal didn't consider ST to be a reliable or convincing witness. to secure a conviction

Shame on the Tully suggesting that ST was a reluctant participant - if he was, he could have ended the uncertainty with a phone call to the Police/Fiscal on the Monday after the match. Why does the Tully give this guy an easy ride

As T 'n B said above - he's looking a bigger fool now

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

Re: Thompson

The lad is a trainee teacher. If he had a conviction, he would no longer be a trainee teacher - thus ruining his entire career. Maybe somebody somewhere saw sense....

As for the polos, what if they heard a scuffle and saw the boy plant st on his arse. Kinda along the lines of a referee can only give what he sees.

Either way, this is the best result all round

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Re: Thompson

It's not true that withdrawing a complaint will automatically lead to police dropping charges. The crime is against the State as well as the individual. ST didn't prosecute the chap the country's law enforcement did - it's a criminal case not a civil action. I'm glad the case was dropped - the accused is a decent lad.
