Re: Dundee v Dundee Utd - Wednesday 9th August (7.45pm)

Tonight confirmed we'll struggle defensively against any half capable team.  We will also still create lots of chances.  Nothing's changed, we still have the best squad by far in the league and we still give far too many stupid fouls away around our box.

Re: Dundee v Dundee Utd - Wednesday 9th August (7.45pm)

Hmmm. What can ye say. Up to the half-oor mark, we couldna get the ba, and when we did, we couldna keep it. Efter the they score, the tide turns, and we get our reward courtesy of a great run and ba in fae Stanton. King in the right place at the right time.

2nd half eexy peexy. We had a great run of play in and around their box around the 60 min mark. Couple oe mins later, nae chunt near the crook, and an easy ba fae Allan gives them a phuckin goal.

We coulda had another twa goals we assists fae King. Keatings stifles Bain on the deck and passes to King who should pass to McDonald whas right on the 6 yard line -naebody hear him - instead he fluffs it. 2 mins later Toshney doon the wing, perfect ba to King just in the box - he should pass to Keatings whos unmarked on the 6 yard line - instead he scuffs his attempt straight to Bain. I could hear Keatings shoutin "WTF are you dayin". - Billy dont be a hero.

Fyvie didna seem to get much oe the ba. McDonald never got enough oe the ba to make a difference. MOTM for me Stanton.

Re: Dundee v Dundee Utd - Wednesday 9th August (7.45pm)

I actually thought most of out players performed well. Toshney was poor - poor positioning and poor pace. The midfield looked good considering Fyvie was not really match fit.

Re: Dundee v Dundee Utd - Wednesday 9th August (7.45pm)

Lewis - 8/10 Done well.Better at coming for crosses tonight and made a few good saves (one great one from Haber?).

Toshney - 6/10 I don't rate him at all and think he's a weak link but thought tonight he did 'ok'.Though he once again gave Scott Allan too much space to pick a pass for a Dundee goal (albeit both good takes).

Durnan - 7/10 Done well i thought.Becoming one of our best most reliable players imo.

Edjenguele - 5/10 Thought he really struggled tonight with both the movement of Bahktoui and clearing crosses from wide.

Scobbie - 4/10 Was doing 'ok' until his injury (pulled groin?)

Briels - 4/10 Game totally passed him by for me.Chasing shadows all night and very lucky not to be red carded as last man for bringing down one of their players almost on the goal line.Said after the 1st Derby and will say it again. He will rack-up the cards (and offences i fear). He worries me.

Fyvie - 5/10 Game totally passed him by.Done well to last 70 minutes.Should have been subbed sooner.

King - 6/10 Struggled defensively trying to help Scobbie contain Deacon.Took his goal well with a great run.But blew two other great chances for us to equalise again.

Stanton - 6/10 Full of effort but again like so many others the game passed him by.His one great bit of determined, ambitious play brought about our equaliser. I like him though.I think he has more to offer once he reaches a good level of fitness.

McMullan - 6/10 Again a lot of effort. But nothing much came off for him and the game sorta passed him by.Passed up a late chance for us with an over-ambitious effort when we had men in the box.Naive.

McDonald - 6/10 Miles from fitness and was so isolated all night.Stuck to his task and was typically terrier like but Dundee's defence handled him easily.

Subs -

Robson 7/10 Kid did well.Showed good pace, energy and aggression up against the tricky Deacon.Looks like that Left Back slot could be his for the forseable.

Murdoch 4/10 - Had no impact.

Keatings 4/10 - Had no impact.

I think Toshney was very poor. Glad Murdoch is back.

Re: Dundee v Dundee Utd - Wednesday 9th August (7.45pm)

Edge was honkin. Basic errors shouldn't happen at this level. Waiting for the ball to drop and let el bak in stuck in my mind. Briels and fyvie were poor, allowing Dundee to boss the midfield. Stanton will be a very important player for us this season.

Re: Dundee v Dundee Utd - Wednesday 9th August (7.45pm)

Edge was good one moment and poor the next.

I thought Briels did quite well. Fyvie also looked quite good, though he had his bad moments hopefully due to lack of games.

And I thought McDonald wasnt bad either.

Toshney was the worst for me. I was impressed with Robson's tenacity.

Robson was the one bright spot in a rotten performance.
Looks like hes worked on his strength during closed season.
