Its pretty obvious that this has all been engineered by Cammy. 
He's gone to the club and said he wants to leave, for whatever reason. Club have had to accept and had to sign 2 keepers, as opposed to 1. The proposed move for Bell has fallen through. Club left with 3 keepers. 
Only choice now is to force the issue. 

Bell is the architect in all this, make no mistake. 
He doesn't want his name tarnished though hence the 'mystified' & 'stunned' comments. Trying to place the blame at the clubs door. 

Fuck him. Pot Noodle haded bastard. 

I thought Bell was an excellent signing but he is clearly fucking the club around.

If he is fit to play and wants to play then get him in between the sticks. He is our best keeper and we can't afford to be messing around with rookie keepers (see 15/16 for evidence)

I take it your judging him against two part time move and an average performance against that lot.

From what i've seen so far, Lewis isn't that great at high balls, or his decision making on when to come for high balls to be precise, needs work.

Shot stopping, positioning, coming off his line to react to threats is just fine.

He's been brought into play in place of Bell, because Bell indicated he'd be moving on.

Lewis will develop a better understanding with his defenders as the games go on, we simply can't have 3 keepers on the books and Bell is the one most likely to go and his departure will allow us to strengthen other areas.
I don't think it will be like last season where the keeper is as important as we'll do a lort more damage at the other end.

I'm happy to trust the manager's judgement and the club's stance on this.

He is a huge upgrade on they two.
