I've got a 'hospitality' ticket for that game, what a performance. But see when I click on your link Tek, I'm getting yesterday's Ayr game. Unless it's something to do with losing my glasses.

Here's the goals (I hope).

Magic, Petric getting that minky hun bastard Ferguson telt - have a bit of that elbow you horrible cunt.

The second time we went to Ibrox that season and got cheated again - cannae have us beating them there twice in one season eh?

honestly, you forget how bad it used to be until you watch some of this stuff.  taken out by the fking waste, no penalty.  makes you boil just watching that.

I don't really forget how bad it used to be because nothing has changed it's still that bad.

Re: On This Day

On this day in 1986 I watched one of my favourite last 10 mins of a match fae the Shed as a bairn.
19 mins onwards for the goals...

Edit to say, just noticed that Bannon's goal was his 100th scored for United. Some record and what a way to do it!

Re: On This Day

Absolute class goal from Bannon and Ferguson's goal has to be one of the most memorable goals scored at Tannadice, brilliant stuff.

Not a date we traditionally play on.

Call me old fashioned but Boxing Day is a football day.

Re: On This Day

Agree about Boxing Day TEK, New Year's Day too, proper football days.

Just watched that Hearts-Utd game above too, proper football from a team of proper footballers, night and day from today's game.  If Anyone ever invents a time machine I'm going back to the 80s to watch that all again.

2 year ago today, on the 1st January 2015, we beat Dumdee FC 6-2. One of the best New Years I've ever enjoyed. Arabest.

Re: On This Day

The thunderous  rattle round the stadium of the plastic seats whacking up as 'the peoples' bums left them in unison gave me a chuckle.

And the boy with the ingin jack drapped roond him.....

Re: On This Day

1963- United 3- Celtic 0.
Before my time but well worth a read of the Arabarchive report.

http://dufcarchive.co.uk/matchdetails.php?id=569

To quote a bit of it,"To highlight the level of the United performance we feel that we can do no better than quote the Scottish Sunday Express which began its report of the game, "Here surely was one of the best displays of football ever given by a Dundee side — and I include United's more renowned neighbours from across the way. Magnificent United earned a nickname more befitting than "Terrors" —the title that a reputation for hard, go-ahead play has won them. This was entirely out of character the slick man-to-man moves carried out at a speed that made Celtic look like labourers by comparison." Lavish praise indeed, for a United side that had beaten Celtic for the first time since promotion three years previously.

Re: On This Day

I moan about the competitive season starting too early (not going on Sunday), yet I was at that game without a concern.

It must be true that you find things to complain about, with little reason, as the years advance.

At least you become very honest in your elderly opinion Pat.

Re: On This Day

Liked Jim Hamilton, one of the most composed and accurate players I've seen in the box (and great in the air). We could do with a player of his quality today.

Bring back the (real) "United Way" not the kiddy-on Martin version

If he had pace he would have went far in the game.

Too much commotion

Re: On This Day

24 years ago today in glorious Glasgow sunshine we finally smashed the so-called 'Hampden Hoodoo'.

Still my proudest day as an Arab I think. Rangers were a Monster at the time. Sweeping all in their path aside and having an iron grip on Scottish football's jugular.

We took the fight to them on the day however and deservedly won. Still feel proud watching the highlights back.
