I was like that with Billy Dodds. Thought he was a right cock and was done after falling right out the picture at the Sheep, raging we were selling Winters for him but after his first start as St Johnstone i was sold, he went onto be one of the best bits of business we have ever done.
McDonald coming is more like Dodds' 2nd spell at Tannadice when he too was 34 & scored 14 goals in 68 games.
His 1st spell at United (from Aberdeen) he was 29 & scored 25 goals in 45 games.
Aye but we were in the top half of the SPL when Dodds came back. We are playing against much weaker teams now. Even if McDonald doesn't score a load of goals his experience will be invaluable.

He is a noisy aggresive player with a a win at all costs mentality something we have been short of for a long time. Clearly he will have slowed down a bit but he is still a player every other 1st division team would loved to have signed

Very good player.

Pull this one off and we have 3 excellent strikers (at this level). N'Koyi still an unknown but even if he was 4th choice I'm sure he will do a half-decent job for us.

If we sign Johnsen we'll piss this league. I saw him at Dillos testimonial and you could tell he is quality.

That would be an outstanding signing.

Supposedly going to mk dons, however we are still after zeefuik

Would be happy with Zeefuik. Scored 12 goals in 15 games for hearts. The boy is a unit and would be a good target man. If we signed him, we'd have the follwing attacking options Zeefuik, McDonald, Keatings, Matty Smith, N'Koyi, King, McMullan and Fraser. We should with that going forward, win the league at a canter.

Get Zeefuik and Quinn in.
Bell will depart and i still have a feeling Fraser will go in this window (just a gut feeling).Hopefully Donaldson can find a new club.Waste of a career for the boy not played regulary since his Livi days.

Bjorn Johnsen has the same agent as Robbie Muirhead, who went to MK Dons from Hearts to follow Neilson: make of that what you will.
Zeefuik, from what I mind, I'd be happy with. But he's more a barrel than a giant, we'll have the smallest forward line in the league at this rate.
Quinn, although a no-nonsense defender, has been set back in his career by injury problems, so I'm not enthusiastic there. A bit like Keatings, would be very good at this level, if fit.
And McDonald................... he won't get off with the same shit with us that he escaped punishment for at Celtic and to a lesser extent, Motherwell. I expect a few suspensions. And 34 in less than a month, hope he still has it, as he was an excellent player at one point. But he's another short guy.

Happy with the McDonald signing. Defo starting to take shape now.
Zeeefoook, not for me. A big burly CF who can win headers and position himself in the right places for King and McMullan to hit is what we need. I can't see N'Koyi being anything more than a Brian Graham.

Welcome to Tannadice Scott.

McDonald is a decent signing for sure. Far less risky too than some options. He's obviously sold on the central stiker role and being fed by the creative attacking options we now have.
Looking forward to derby a bit more now.
Willo mentioned something on Arabzone about talking him into the move and that he's "sure that the managers gonna make 3 or 4 signings that'll be ready for the fight as well".
Hopefully more to come in.

Think McDonald is as good a signing as we could hope to get. We're not magnet for good players, we don't have don't dosh to throw around and yet again find ourselves in a desperate situation. I just hope Ray manages to lose his negative backbone when we play the bigger teams and commit more to attacking so that Skippy gets a chance to show that he can still score.

Really? 2 games I seen him play CH, Dundee 6-2 game and Motherwell scottish cup game, he strolled it. He played better at centre half than Jackie's love child Donaldson.

He played about 10 games last season.
Injuries catching up? Shame as I liked him at United.

Given the state of his knees and the number of plastic pitches it's no wonder.
Shame - potentially good player undone by injuries
Wouldn't want him back though
