I don't think it matters how many ex players are sold Ray won't see any of it. The Robertson cash won't even be enough to plug this years deficit, never mind start paying back loans early. It'd be great if Gauld and Armstrong were sold so we could use any sell ons to get rid of a chunk of debt cos that debt is what's gonna kill us.
Celtic really should sell Armstrong and replace him with Gauld.
Maybe just turn down the sell-on money from Hull, sounds like it's not going to do us any good at all. Donate it to charity?

I think fans are recognising that the sell on cash won't be used for the playing side, smeDUum, due to past financial decisions. And they are rightly disappointed by this.
To continue your facetious theme, are you delighted that Raymond will not be given any of that cash to strengthen? Of course you aren't!

Gents, isn't it financial swings n roundabouts? Without it, would the initial budgets not have been smaller
Anyway a convincing (In the end) victory - happy days

The money isn't going to do us any harm Pat.
Posters screaming about it for years & when it comes it's no use.
The negativity is overwhelming..

Yes, it's not going to do any harm. There's nothing negative about pointing out that it won't be used for players & that it'll be used to plug holes in the finances, then maybe pay off some debt. That's what should happen anyway. Would you prefer we all got excited and pretended we'll get an extra 3 players in now and then get pissed off when we don't.
Whether we should be in the position of having to use it for that is another debate, but let's not get into that again.

Back page of courier says that Ray wont get any of the Robertson money added into the budget.
Not surprising at all, and dispells any myth that we were 'relying' on it for our playing budget this year. He will still have the biggest in the league.

I haven't seen anyone say we were relying on it for the playing budget?
Relying on it for keeping the club going yes. But not for budget.

For the past year or so the chairman has been pawning in anything that's not nailed down in order to get some cash together for this season, are you seriously thinking that this cash won't be getting used for the playing budget?
This cash will plug a few holes in the meantime with the hope (fingers crossed) that we can get out of this nightmare of a league this season as our income this season has and will be vastly reduced.

No, I appreciate the money was never going to be used for getting players in (read it on the forums ad nauseam) but it's bloomin' handy for reducing the debt, so keeping the club going, then having some on-field success and so generating some income to improve the squad. Life is a circle

Booked in for medical in Liverpool tomorrow.

Potentially something pretty catastrophic to us looks like happening.
Kevin Stewart's leaving Liverpool to go to Hull for the same £8m fee that Liverpool are paying for Robertson, if Hull word it correctly, we may get cut out of the deal.

Swap deal?
Can you elaborate on what you've heard mate?

I know the money down there is mental, but Hull won't be paying 8m for a guy that's made 11 appearances for Liverpool and has spent time on loan at Swindon, Cheltenham and Burton Albion.
He'll be part of the deal, it'll be 8m plus him, bring it to 8,750,000 or something.

Sky sports are reporting that the deals are independent of each other.
Also reporting that Stewart is going for a fee of £5M that could rise to £7.5M
Robertson deal is £8M up front with potential £2M add ons
Is this inside information or are you just guessing as the deals are close to each other and the fees are 'only' a few million apart?

Also, If you swap an 8m player for an 8m player it's still an 8m transfer deal.
Hull are selling then buying or vice versa.

That's all I've seen, hopefully the deals are independent of each other, but I've feared this sort of thing happening for a while. Swansea done the same thing to cut Utrecht out of the deal for Michel Vorm when he went to Tottenham, officially Vorm was a straight swap for Sigurdsson, while Ben Davies, a product of Swansea's youth system went for a hugely inflated fee. Think Utrecht took it to CAS but ultimately, Swansea won.

Not being funny but if that's all you've seen, how did you come to the conclusion that the fee for both players was £8M.
That article also states £10M for Robertson

I'm sure our financial wizard of a Chairman will have covered all the contractual bases.

Incidentally if there is to be a cut of the transfer coming our way it comes via the fee versus what they paid us, so if fee is 8 million and they paid us 2 the percentage comes off 6 million.
Im also positive its more than 10%.

I reckon that United will get about 800k from this transfer which im sure will mostly go towards paying back some of the loans. Hope some of the money can go towards bringing in another few quality players to help the promotion push.

Surprised Liverpool are letting this kid go, I thought it would be a season long loan to sweeten he deal.
If it's £8m up front rising to £10m United's cut will come from the £8m guarantee minus what Hull paid United for him.
10%+ of £5.4m, no idea how taxes work on this kind of transfer income but United will probably end up owing someone money after it's all gone through.
Good luck to Andy tho, I said after 6 months of seeing him that he and Armstrong would play for a team like Spurs or Liverpool.

You're right, it's 15% of the differential, so 15% of £5.5 -6M, so like others have said, around £800k
