Re: U20 squad fixtures 17/18

Highlights of the Devs friendly v St.Duthus FC up in Tain from the weekend past.

Some proper ’one-man and his Dog’ punters at the game😂😂

Lovely ’laces through it’ strike to win it for Utd.

Re: U20 squad fixtures 17/18

I caught the last 10 mins of the first half and the whole of the second half. Got beat 4-2. Mate said our defence was a shambles first half. Team played a bit better second half until they scored their 4th. After that they could've added a couple more.

We are not good. We are not shite. We just offer: nothing. Players who are technically ok but are all much of a muchness. Like 11 clones/robots on the park. Not one with any spark, guile, vision, pace, trickery or dig. Its actually boring to watch. Everyone just plays the way they are facing. Nobody seems to be able to go past a man. Other than one great ball by Allardice, it was just like players going through the motions.

Motherwell had 2-3 fringe players on. They looked ok as a team. Bigger physically overall.

Hate having a go but surely Ray see's this?

Big striker playing as a trailist, didn't do much. Looked to have a decent build but did nothing of note. Looked like one for the u20s rather than the first team.

Must also question why none of the guys who are short of match-fitness weren't considered for this game.

Tbh, in the last year under Campbell, the team played in the same boring way. Its definitely got worse under Bowman though.

Its either that the players that we are scouting and attracting are just poor and this is the best they can get out of them or, all the flair and individuality is just coached out of them and they are just made to play safe all of the time.

Re: U20 squad fixtures 17/18

Brutal performance.

Given the run-around.

The 1st goal we lose from the corner is so so poor.As is the 4th goal.

Even the penalty we (luckily) score is shite.Hit with no real conviction.

I think that description sums up the vast majority young football players in Scotland now though?

Tidy, technical ability but no cutting edge or power to them.

Thanks for the clip.
4-2 going on 6-2.
Their left back had a good game.
Penalty was ok, it went in did it not.
Another long season for the U/20s maybe?

Re: U20 squad fixtures 17/18

Pen went in Smedz,yes.

But if the Keeper just stands up it's an easy save.

Not a good pen in my book.

In the first half Logan Chalmers was playing wide right of a 4-4-2 and doesn't track his man for a couple of those goals on the clip.  Utd right back (Davie) wasn't great but was repeatedly left exposed.  In the 2nd half we went to 4-2-3-1 with Louis Appere playing wide right and he and the right back Davie struggled to get to grips with their left back and the wide player they brought on.

How many times does the keeper just stand though?
